Hi there,

My thyroid problems seem exacerbated by Atkins. Isn't keto-dieting bad for your thyroid? That's why, for example, the animalbolics eating plan recommends having small amounts of fructose during the day.

Also, my thyroid problems are related to other health problems. In other words, my thyroid should really be healthy. For this reason, I don't want to start thyroid meds since if the rest of me heals, my thyroid should "some back online". Is there a simple, effective way to naturally boost thyroid function?

Thanks!

Yes, ketogenic diets may cause your thyroid to down regulate, just like a low calorie diet may. Some people find they do better, thyroidally, staying well out of ketosis.

Mary Sholmon has several books out about thyroid health. I haven't really looked into them because I don't have a functioning thyroid. My thyroid wouldn't zoom if you put 10,000 volts through it. My thyroid is an ex-thyroid.

There's all kinds of things that can affect the functioning of your thyroid, including foods you eat, drugs you take, supplements and so on.
