My Endo gave me innpran xl for my thyroid malfunction. I did some research and found that innopran is blood pressure medicine!! Why did he give it to me? I don't have high blood pressure....... :help:

hi Amanda,

InnoPran is an extended-release form of the beta-blocker, propanolol. While it's true that propanolol is mostly used for high blood pressure, and to help slow rapid heartbeats, it's also used for certain types of hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid).

I urge you to call your dr ASAP, and ask for a clearer explanation about your "thyroid malfunction", what signs and symptoms you should be on the lookout for, and how the InnoPran will help.

Good luck to you :rose:

Thanks for your reply!!

I called my dr and he said it's to help with me being hot and sweaty all the time. I took it for 8 days and it didn't seem to help at all.
