what to aim for in my sugar readings. I began at 220s and they have been going down since this WOL. I usually this past week run 93-110 but today I got a 76 and a 84. Is the 76 a good thing or do you think I was headed to low?
I am new at this diabetes stuff any advice would be appreciated.

Are you talking fasting blood glucose readings? I don't think 76-84 is too low. That's pretty normal :-)
I am both diabetic and hypoglycemic - and my feeling about the 76 is that it's only too low if you don't feel well at that level. Anything in the 70-110 range is considered normal by the medical profession.
If you're on diabetes drugs, getting down in the 70s may be a sign that you need to cut back on your meds. If you keep going lower and you're on drugs I'd definitely talk to your doc. Otherwise, enjoy the low numbers :-)

Thanks, I felt ok and no this wasn't fasting it was 7pm. I ate and watched it for 4 hours it went from 76 to 85 to 105 back down to 93. I'd say if normal is between 70-110 then the low carb is making me normal. As normal as I get anyway lol ;)

This morning it was 107 fasting. It used to run pretty regular 199 morning fasting before this WOL.

That's wonderful Rhonda! My level has been running 187, the lowest level fasting mornings so far since low carbing for the past few weeks, but it was usually over 200 and even 300 fasting before I started... I would love to be at 107 fasting, how did you do that and how long did it take?

I am on low carb (basically Atikins) I keep calories to under 1400 and carbs to under 40 but honestly some days I don't even hit 40 I am working on doing better at that. I am down 16 pounds since the 6th of MAy YAY that is helping too.
Good luck

A reading over 140 is causing permanet dmage so would work hard to get all bg about 80 to 100 for fasting and 80 to 110 for 2 hr after a meal, according to Bernstien this minute damage will build up and causes all the ills us diabetics get.
Low carbing should bring bg down eventually, for some real fast.
if you have a reading of 300 regularly in morning are you on insulin or meds. I would look at something until you can control it with low carbing as dont want to die young. :agree:

Since June 3rd, I have been back on Metformin regularly and low carbing. My level this morning fasting was 155 while still over where it needs to be, it has come down to half of what it was less than two weeks ago. :yay:
This is sooo amazing to me... proves to me without a doubt that low carbing really does work!!
