A little history: I started bc pills at age 11 to help treat endometriosis. I started Depo in Feb 1999 stopped in Jan 2005. Started bc pills again March 2005. So I was being treated for high blood pressure, 180/100, since I was 15 years old. I started the Depo and my blood pressure went back to a normal range. Started bc pills again and my blood pressure is back up to 168/80!

Question: Is this a common side effect of bc? I read the insert in my pills and its not listed as a side effect.

Wow! Really? I was cautioned about that when I was on it! 9Of course, that was in the 70's when they didn't know anything. :p )

Maybe more recent research "indicates" bc isn't the cause, but I remember clearly my doc telling me to keep an eye on it. Maybe it was family history, mom had high bp, but I've always run low bp, on or off bc. I stopped it because of other nasty symptoms that weren't "normal" and "coulnd't possibly be the bc"! (yea, but stopped immediately when I stopped bc)

Depo has it's own problems....and if osteoporosis is a problem in your family I'd recomend staying off that. Check with your doc and see if you can try another type or brand.
