Hi Everyone,
Just wondered if someone could tell me if my calculations are correct?
At present I am 93.5 kilos at a body fat of 22.1%
My target body fat is 15%, so I work it that my target weight should be 87.5 kilos.
Does this make sense?
Also is 15% BF enough to completely get rid of my love handles? I am exercising daily using HIIT, and everything is firming up well but still need to shift this spare tire.
Your input is greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Marcus.

I'm not terribly sure of your body fat percentages, sorry. I do, however, know that one can have love handles even at an extremely low body fat so I wouldn't count on reaching that magic number and suddenly having no love handles just for the fact that you've achieved such a low percentage.

body fat & weight have very little correlation.... Body builders can weight 200lbs or more and have 10% body fat.....
Its all in your build and size, you could keep your present weight and gain muscle & loose fat...

Thanks guys...
I am starting to get my head around it now.
As I am doing a hell of a lot of HIIT (2.5 / 3HRS) per week plus some weight compound group weight training, rather then aiming for a specific weight goal I decided to go for body fat percentages instead.
I am 31 year old and have been fairly sedentry for about 3 years now since I left the UK. Before that period I was very active and had a very strong and lean body.
I know that muscle remembers very well and it is already showing that after only two weeks hard training.
I am just going to completely forget about weight for now and aim for by BF goals:
Started: 32%
Current: 22%
Target: 15%
I happened to read an article in Men's Health yesterday that said the 'Perfect' BF% for a man is 11%. I am guessing what they mean by 'Perfect' is that is what the cover models are. I dont need to go that extreme, just want to get rid of an excess around my torso and flatten the stomach.
Becouse my HIIT mainly consists of excersising on a Rowing Machine and a Cross-Trainer my core strength is making great progress and I can feel everything firming up under there.
Oh well... back to the gym!

Well done treamer!
10% loss of body fat already, I have read that HIIT really gets u lean. There are some really good discussions on achieving ideal BF %'s on site such as www.fitnessireland.ie
also such forums as www.muscletalk.com are also really useful and informative on caining ur bodyfat and biulding muscle.
I hope these sites are useful.
Atkins isn't far from bodybuilders cutting diets (from what I can work out) so U'll be love handle free before u know it.
Congratulations again, lovely to see someone so physically and mentally dedicated, keep up the good work and post some piccies when u reach ur goal please! ;)

Thanks guys!
I love the support you get from this site. It really helps you keep on track.
I am into my second week of the new regime now and so far so good. I can hardly believe the progress I made last week.
I ended the week at 92.5 kg from 95.5 at the start of the week! Plus all the HIIT has made huge difference to my shape and my strength. I quiet literally feel like a new man now.
I am sitting here in work desperate to get out and into the gym. Everyone at work has noticed the difference too and some are even asking me for my ‘secret’. Right now I have a big smile on my face
I have found setting small goals and working only one stage at a time has helped loads as you don’t get bogged down with the bigger picture.
I have been following a really strict diet of 1200/1500 calories a day which is a lot easier than you think. Just spread out the meals (a least 4) through the day and it’s easy. I also make sure the caloric intake reduces with each meal as the day goes on (i.e. on third of the cals at breakfast and then downwards from there)
Seems to be working great so far.
Also I would say the calcium intake is helping too. At least 1500mg per day and all from dietary sources - no tablets. I have read so many good things about upping the calcium intake and I must say they are all bearing fruit now.
Thanks again guys,
I will put some photos up of my progress at the end of the week.
