I was told that the only way to lose a "beer gut" is to sweat it out, because it isn't really fat and something else?. I am confused by this, because it feels like fat, and it looks like fat, so why wouldn't it just burn like fat? So basically I have been trying to run in sweatshirts and pants and sweating like crazy to get rid of this thing, but I dont' want to pass out from dehydration either! Any ideas on this?

I've never heard that before.... If it's not fat then what is it?
I think someone was pulling your leg. Fat is fat. Beer guts are fat. Sweating is good but excessive sweating can only dehydrate you. Keep up the exercise, it will help shrink that beer gut.

My thought exactly on what else could it be?
Thanks for the quick response! :)

 The wheat and yeast in beer can make you feel bloated (and your stomach look bloated) but the body certainly isn't storing any big surprises in that beer gut except for good old fat. I know from personal experieince... my beer gut has slowly gotten smaller and smaller.
Have fun sweating it off. :)

Beer is carbohydrate. Take in more than you need and the excess gets stored as fat. Not just in the belly but everywhere. It's just that belly fat is more noticeable when you look in the mirror.
If you're an alcoholic, you might have ascites causing a swollen belly. That's one way alcohol could lead to a big belly. But in that case it's fluid, not fat in the belly, and it's internal fluid, not subcuteous the way fat would be.
The fastest way to get rid of the fat is low-carb and aerobic exercise and lay off the beer. :-)

Cool, I am glad that I don't have to run in 3 pairs of my sweats all summer haha, thanks again to both of you!
yeah, my hardest part of this woe is laying off the beer :o
