At least to my first goal. I hit 220 lbs today and am very happy. After all the negative feedback I got from friends and co-workers about this diet I did it anyways. I have to thank the friends that did support me (very few) and this forum. I will go for 200 lbs now and hopefully I won't look like a dip stick. *lol* :spin:

Thanks again

Thanks everyone for the support. Yes I did exercise and still am. I got back into mountain biking big time and am doing it everyday plus a little bit of weights every other day. I also never really got of introduction.

I will post a before and after pic tomorrow. It might scare a few of you to see how I look. *lol*

Nat

The race has come and gone and my trusty Rocky Mountain broke on a 4 foot drop. The stay snapped and that was the end of that race. Maybe if I lost more weight then, the stay wouldn't have snapped. *lol* Rocky did replace my frame under warranty.

Will you be my hero too? I'm so impressed with what you're doing! I have a good friend who 'poo-poos' my Atkins WOE. They just don't get it. They've bought into all the hype and are still under the influence of the low fat regime. I can't seem to convince her. I'm done trying. So I told her even though you disagree with the low-carb thing, could you at least support me in my effort to get healthy and slender? She said yes and we've not mentioned it again. I figure I'll just bide my time and she'll see the difference in me eventually. It's disappointing, I know but it will not stop us!!!!

Thanks for sharing, I'm so looking forward to seeing the new you!

Way to go Dave!

You've done the right thing, but setting a reasonable goal, and re-adjusting when you've reached it!

I'll take the libery of moving your post to our Success Stories section, so others may be inspired by it.

As promised my before and after pic. The one with me and the Coke bear was at last years Comdex, So that would be just about a year ago. The other two are just me now. Believe it or not those jeans I'm wearing are the same pair I'm wearing in the before shot.

Thanks everyone for all the kind words. It has been a really funny for me lately. I cheated a few times and miss one workout and still lost weight. Also, lost 6 lbs this week alone. Don't know what is happening to me but I shouldn't be complaining. Since I posted those pics I have lost another 11 lbs. Didn't think I had anymore to lose but it came off. I am now 17% body fat and have no visible budge anywhere.

Only problem I am having now is my friends are telling me I am too skinny. They think I'm obsess with weight loss now and I don't know when to stop. I will post some pics and you people can tell me if I need to lose more weight.

Thanks

Dave

Dave, it's about what you're comfortable with; and what your body will permit. You're eating, you're working out and you're still losing weight. Don't sweat it (pun intended ;)) It's not about 'skinny' or 'fat' it's about healthy. When your body decides that X% of body fat is where it wants to be, you'll know.

To your leaness!

Ignore the nay-sayers, Dave. Look how far you've come! I've taken lately to studying the number of people in my life who go on such a guilt trip if they even put one morsel of fat in their mouth-- "Oh, I know I shouldn't be doing this!" And all I can think is --you worry about a tsp. of butter, and you might better worry about the 4 candy bars you have evry day. I fpeople only knew how good this WOE feels.

I did it again.. hit my final goal. passed it even. I like to thank everyone here for all the kind words and support. I don't think I could have done it without you all. Here is a recent pic of me at a slim 196 lbs. over 100 lbs lost in 6 months. Only if I can keep it off. Good luck to everyone else and I'm sure I'll still be checking in on everyone every now and then.

Thanks

Wow Dave

You don't even look like the same man! WTG buddy!

Why don't you slip on over to the Maintenance Club? - you're not the only one who wants to maintain their weight loss.

Best of luck in keeping your new svelte figure!

You look fantastic. The smile on your face says it all--you achieved something you've worked so hard for.

I ditto Ruth, slip on over to the maintainence club. There are people who are going to need the support of people like you who have reached their goals.

It will also help you maintain your new weight and way of eating.

The definition of weight loss success is NOT EVER having to do it all over again . . .

I wish you plenty of success ;)

Way to go Dave!

Now it's time to consider if you'd be interested in writing your experience to add to our web page "Success Stories"?

One thing I'd like to stress is, make sure you res-search the best maintenance plab for you. I've been at goal before, and I wish I had such a plan to stick to, and keep the fat off. :(

I would love to write about my story. Do you just want me to write it then email it to you with some pics or is there a place here I can summit it?

Thanks

That's great! Yes, just email it to me and attach the photos you want (or let me know if you want to use the ones from this thread) and it should be published shortly after I get it. My email is always at the bottom of the page where it says "Contact us".

Why don't you become a frequent visitor to the Maintenance Forum. It would help others to read your insights, as well as keep you on track!

WTG Dave. You look great!

I just checked out your profile and noticed we both have a lot in common. We started at about the same time, at the same weight and are the same height.

Now I have a question for you on the love handles issue. When did they finally fade away??? That's the only part of the body I'd really like to see go away now. I dropped from size 46 waist to 36 and these are getting loose now, but the handles are hanging in there still.
Again congrat's on your success!

Yes we do have very close profiles. I was wearing size 40 when I started (tight at that) and now I wear size 32. I have lots of size 40, 38, 36 and 34 clothes now. *lol* My love handles disappeared when I hit 205 lbs and 18% body fat. You are like me so just hand in there. They will dissapear.. and you've done so well aready.

At least I have an idea of how soon they will start to disappear now. I've tryed not to look at the mid-section for a week now and am noticing I'm starting to get that flater look. So I'm hoping by spring time, they will be gone.

Again thanks for the info.

PS: I also have sizes 46, 44, 42, 40, 38, and now am wearing 36's. LOL

I think tuning out the naysayers and knowitalls is really the first step to success. Most often its the lack of support from loved ones that kills the diet for some.

Isn't it amazing how negative people are when you're trying to better yourself and wellbeing? I'm sure they weren't negative while you were gorging your face with food. I'm glad you stuck with it despite the odds. In the end it's always about you being happy. Goodluck on the additonal 40+ lbs to go.
