Does anyone have any suggestions on controlling binge eating.

Most of the time I do fine in my diet, however, at times something small sets me off and I can not stop myself. Normally I can have one and top but that once in a hundred I find myself going back and back. Any suggestions?

HI and Good Luck!
My suggestion is that you drink plenty of water, if you are not doing so. Water fills you and in most cases does not leave room for foods that you should not eat.
Keep plenty of safe snacks in the fridge, so when you get the urge to binge, you binge on something safe! :)
Cut veggies and keep a dip in the the fridge for dipping them in. Pepperoni, boiled eggs, deviled eggs in different varietys, cut up cheese chunks ect. are good for snacking and keep the binges down.
Also, if you binge bad, eat 5 to 6 small meals a day. This will help keep you full, and less likely to think that you need foods that smell good to you.
Go to the recipe thread here on the forum and find some snacks and foods that appeal to you and keep something different around so that you don't get bored.
I hope that at least some of this is helpful to you!
Good Luck!
You can get past this, and succeed!

I have similiar issues and I make note of what I ate or what I was doing to cause the binge so that I can avoid the food or at least have a food that I can eat, similiar to it.

For example: I know I binge at my gaming group, so I bring peanut butter and celery to snack on, yes I still get too many calories but at least my sugar stays low.

I can't eat Wheat at all because
1) I have an allergy
2) It makes me a non stopping binger!

Prevention.
Make sure you have regularly spaced meals and snack. As diabetics, we learn to have our meals and snacks by the clock, this way we control our blood glucose levels.
It is the best ways to prevent drops in blood sugar that will make you run for the nearest high carbohydrate snack that could turn into a full-blown binge.
After all, it takes 20 minutes for you brain to catch up, imagine the damage that will happen.

If an attack is about to happen reach for a very high fat snack like peanut butter covered slice of cheese, or mayo covered ‘cheese and meat’ roll up.
The fat will help you.

Hi!

They only thing I can add to the already good advice these folks have given you is to join a challenge and start a journal to keep yourself accountable. I am a sugar and carb junkie and have found with the help from the folks on this forum I can at least cut a binge short and the binges are few and farther between.
I wish you the best of luck!
