Depending. First time this a.m. it was 97.6, the second time 94.9. I am taking it under my arm. Is there any reason why I can't take it orally? I think it might be more accurate. Most of the time my readings have been 95.0-95.6 under arm.

I had my blood tested yesterday and will be going to the Dr. to review them. I used to be on thyroxin and he took me off several years ago after being on it for about 15 years. Now I feel totally exhausted, forgetful, unable to lose weight, and seem to be unable to function at a human level.

There was a book written by a doctor that worked his entire career on thyroid Brada Brody. He diagnosed thyroid disorder in women by having them take their temp with a mercury thermometer for 10 days in the morning before getting out of bed. They started it on the 3rd day of their menstraul cycle and instructs to lie quietly on your side for 10 minutes with the thermometer in the armpit of the top arm and to not be covered up in the arm area. You take the average over the 10 days.

I tried the oral route and found that it was consistant too but that it read about 0.3 degrees higher than my basil thermometer.

Orally your temperature should be about .5 a degree higher.

OK - I was only able to locate a digital basal themometer. What is everyone esle using. Also - I had a vag.hyst 3yrs ago so no cycle here. I will look for the site that states that thyroid temps should no longer be taken under arm - I take orally - wait to reach max temp with the beep and keep in place for 5minutes which is what the instructions stated to do.

I use a digital thermometer. Can't read the other. I will start taking my temp orally tomorrow a.m.. Last time it was 95.6.

Woo hoo! I got 97.4 this morning. Burn baby, burn!

I use a basal digital thermometer. I think its very consistent. Sometimes though, just to check it, I stick it in my mouth and hold it there before I turn it on. That gives it a longer time to warm up. But that generally doesn't really change the reading much.

Mine generally falls in the 96 to 97 degree range. I have just started medication though, so I haven't expected much of a change. One day this last month, I got an evening reading of 98.2. That has been the highest so far. I use a digital thermometer orally.

What is a Basal Thermometer? Is it just for under the arms? I seen on for that area in the Baby section at the store...

I've actually had a few readings at or even slightly above 98.6, but always late in the day and post ovulation. Wow!

Ovulation makes your temp highter? I surprised to see me over 97 degrees this morning and ovulating is what I'm doing, Baby! :D

Yeah, the 2nd half of your cycle sends your temperature up. Mine goes up about .5 a degree.
