hi, i figured i should introduce myself over in this forum since this is probably where i'm going to be spending most of my time. i did SBD combined with Atkins last summer and lost 15 pounds...but then i went to college and gained all of that weight back, plush 13 MORE pounds, so that was no good. :nono:

so here i am back on SBD and i've already lost 10 pounds in a week and a half on phase 1! probably mostly waterweight, but still...

i'm going on vacation at the end of may and i need to fit into my clothes for that...i literally only have 2 decent pairs of pants that fit (other than that, it's sweatpants, which is not bad for a college student going to class but...). so i'm thinking about staying on phase 1 for an extra week just to keep that quick loss going before the trip, then switching to phase 2. the book says that's ok, but i've heard a lot of "no more than 2 weeks on phase 1!" talk, so i wanted opinions if you have any?

is the 2 week restriction just to keep you from getting bored and falling off the wagon?

ok, sorry this post was so long! looking forward to chatting with you all

Hi there, and welcome to the SBD forum!

You're the only one who can decide whether or not you want to stay on P1 for another week. I certainly wouldn't tell anyone NOT to do it, but I would caution about staying on too long.

That said, when you do start Phase 2, just remember to do it slowly. Add one serving of fruit a day for the first week, for example. You might want to add in a serving of grains the next. I personally do not have a grain serving every day. How much you add (and even when you add it) is up to you. You're the best judge of what's reacting well with your body.

In the meantime, be sure to check the sticky at the top of this forum for some VERY helpful links!

Lots of luck to you!

Welcome to the Beach. As tigerstar said you have to deceide how long you need to do phase 1. I konw I did longer only because I have so much to loose and wanted to be sure my cravings were gone.

Good Luck.

thanks for the welcome and responses :)

i think i will end up staying for 3 weeks... i've been really wanting fruit and oatmeal in the morning, and i can't decide whether it's because of cravings or boredom. i know i can just switch to phase 2 if i think i might start cheating from being bored.
