I started SBD on April 4th and lost 7 lbs. in phase 1. So far nothing in phase 2. Sometimes the scale looks like it wants to give me a loss but then it takes it back  Yes I'm obsessed with the scales although I try not to be.
I've done relatively good with this WOE. I admit that only one time did I splurge and we went to Golden Corral for lunch on Saturday. The rest of the time I'm faithful.
I've added in some bread, cereal, and strawberries and have taken them all out now. I didn't add them all in at once but since I wasn't losing on any of them I've eliminated them. The strawberries I just quit today LOL
If there are any suggestions from any "oldtimers" I would surely appreciate it. Oh and I started exercising on Thursday and I have been doing it every other night. I can't do everynight yet because I wasn't a real active person at all.

Hi Lynn!
You look a lot like me, as far as goals go. I did SB Phase 1 back in October for two weeks and lost 10 lbs. (from 180 to 170). Then I went to Phase 2 and didn't really lose any more, but learned how to eat "off the plan", but using the same strategy. I didn't gain any weight and was very pleased.
I began a week ago Monday on Phase 1 again, and have lost four pounds (YaY!), and plan to go into Phase 2 for another two weeks, then back to my "normal" eating. I think, at least for me and since I'm in "no hurry", to do a two-week stint of Phase 1 every three months, then Phase 2 for two weeks after that.
I, too, have incorporated more exercise into my schedule, since I now have more "free" time. I was in school at night working full-time days toward my AS degree, and that will be finished this quarter! :D I think doing exercise at least three times a week is very important getting down to the ultimate goal, at least for me.
I don't know if this helps you, but it seems to be a good plan for me. It helps to "shock" my body every once in awhile, becuase it gets complacent really fast. I think this way also resets my metabolic set point, which aids in reversing yo-yo dieting effects, but I'm no expert.
Good luck to you  and stick around! this place is very encouraging ;)

Hi there! Welcome to the forum, and to SB! :)
When you first enter Phase 2, it's best to add your new foods slowly. I'd start with a serving of fruit a day, and no grains. When you see that you're still losing, and you don't have any cravings/hunger, then try adding one serving of grains (ie, cereal or bread) Make sure the cereal is high-fiber and low sugar, and the bread is whole wheat. Also, make sure you drink plenty of water.
That's great that you started exercising! That's an important part of healthy living. I'm all for starting slowly myself. My motto when I first started: some is better than none! If you try to do too much at once, you're only setting yourself up for failure (in my experience anyway). Start small and gradually increase your activity.
To help you out, there's a few links at the top of the forum. You can find them here: http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?t=234138
Lots of luck to you!

Hi Lynn! Welcome!
I'm not an old timer with South Beach, as I have just started on the program myself, so I'll refrain from offering any advice and just wish you great success! I'm still reading the book and trying to sort things out. Good job on the weight loss so far. Adding in the exercise is great. I started walking almost nightly now. I've not found that it's made much of a difference yet, but I'm enjoying getting out there. :)

Lynn, Welcome.
Sounds like you are doing okay. You might want to remember that sometimes your loss will be in pounds and sometimes it will be in inches..Sometimes your body needs to take some time to adjust itself before it moves on to the next level. Also, when you exercise you build muscle. Muscle weighs twice as much as fat does. So it is at these times when you will lose inches but not necessarily weight. Either way, you are going to look better and be more healthy. I hope this helps.

Thank you all for the welcome and encouragement. If I can just get past this speed bump I'll be ok.

Hello Luvtrish!
Have you read the South Beach book yet?
Have you read the first thread in this forum? There are link there to a site called mizforgspad.com. She has all the updated food lists for each phase. There is also a chart in that thread called How To Adapt Your Meal PLan, that is helpful in putting it all together.
The "good carbs" are all listed in the approved food lists for each phase.
Good luck!
