hi. I am on my 3rd week, still doing phase 1.
I just went to whole foods and I picked up fish oil omega 3 softgels AND nurtri-flax glutten free flaxseed powder.
am I even supposed to take this stuff?.
and if so, how?.
the vitamins say 3 times a day.
the flaxseed, is this just for poop problems?.
:help: I dont have poop problems!
I just heard a friend say I should add these to my diet.

I take fish oil and I can't recommend it enough! It doesn't have much to do w/ helping you lose weight, it's just very good for your heart. My triglycerides plummeted after taking fish oil for 6 months and I know diet alone wouldn't do that, that's why so many heart patients are urged to take them. (Mine went from 98, which isn't even high, to 43 fyi). They're also good at regulating/lowering blood pressure. I have a history of high blood pressure in my family and so does DH, so that's why we take them - my BP has dropped from 120/80 (borderline) to 108/73 since taking them as well. Can't complain there! Just take one with each meal or get the extra strength that only need to be taken twice/day and take one with breakfast and dinner or breakfast and lunch... I also recommend a multivitamin. (I also take a calcium supplement since I don't get as much dairy as I used to and potassium for occasional leg cramps - but this doesn't mean you have to).
As for flax seed, it is pretty much pure fiber, which is a good thing for your diet. I don't know how much they help with "poop problems" unless you ate flaxmeal muffins and sprinkled the seeds on everything. I sprinkle 1/2-1 Tablespoon on my salad at lunch every day just for a little extra added fiber. If your fiber intake is fine you don't have to add them. They are also a great source of Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, much like the fish oil... Another added benefit for your heart and blood pressure.
Hope this helped.

You don't have to, but I certainly think it is a very nutritionally dense food that is a good thing to have. But no, you don't have to. BTW, sprinkled on a salad you can't taste the seeds at all - just a little crunch which is kinda nice. :) I especially like them sprinkled on tuna and egg salads. :yum: More for the crunch than anything.
