I have been tested before with an underactive thyroid years ago, yet never any medicine was prescribed because
the dr. tested it again and said it was normal.

I just went again in Dec. and they said it was normal. Now the dr. thinks my exaustion is depression.
She wants to put me on antidepressants and I am scared to death to take those. I took paxil for a couple weeks and it made me feel like I was going to get addicted, and it made me more tired.

I still have a feeling it is my thryroid, yet I cannot get her to do more than one test at a time, in a year.

I am so exausted I can hardly keep my eyes open sometimes.

I just had surgery to remove pollups from my cervix. I dont know what else to do. I can't stand feeling this lack of energy and sleeping all of the time.

Could someone offer any suggestions....thankyou. Gina

Hi Gina:

Can you get the results and post them?

It sounds like if you want to get to the bottom of this, you'll have to find a thyroid doctor who KNOWS thyroid - who'll test Free T3 and T4, is willing to prescribe Armour, and doesn't freak out if TSH is suppressed. That's the bottom line. Even if you convince your doctor that you are hypoT, you'll still struggle getting appropriate treatment.

I know Dr. Woodhouse is in Michigan and is highly recommended. Is it possible to get to him?

Get another opinion! I was told on two occasions that I was showing symptoms of hypothyroidism only to be told that wasn't it when they ran the second blood test. Three years later, a third doctor (when examining me for something else) saw the thyroid levels and said I was "dangerously hypothyroid".

If you truly believe that's what it is, get your results and take them to another doctor.
