Does anyone know anything about this? I just went and had my blood work done, and EVRYTHING was perfect, - EXCEPT my liver function test came back elevated (normal range is 50, mine was 91)..

Do you mean your liver enzymes? It means there is some sort of damage
going on in the liver, not necessarily bad, could be fatty liver, could be hepatitis, so usually the doctor will do more blood tests. You could take
milk thistle, or silybum marianum, which is a common liver herb. Or dandelion
tea. I would just get follow up tests down to find out what is going on.

Which liver function test was it? Your creatinine? Do you know what your BUN was? An elevated creatinine and BUN are indicators of kidney disease, HOWEVER, it is possible for one of them to be slightly elevated from other incidental causes, such as dehydration. You'll nned to know more before you can figure out what's going on. What did you doctor say? If he dismissed it, chances are your other blood results were normal and the one elevation was most likely from some other benign cause.

Some liver enzymes can be elevated for any number of reason that have nothing to do with liver damage or disease. For example, stress .. including strenuous exercise, smoking, what you ate before the test, medications, some vitamin supplements.

It would be most helpful if we knew which specific test that you had done ... alk phos, AST, bilirubin or .. ????

Hi, everyone...it was a general liver function test, and it came back elevated. I am not sure what it means, I had to go for further blood work yesterday for hepatitis a & b, and for a "general chemistry"? I just know I am worried sick about it!!

Please don't worry yourself sick, I think the posters who are nurses
said it could be alot of things, not all are serious. Also, I am not a nurse, but your reading is mildly elevated. I have heard of liver
readings much higher, with things like acute hepatitis. It doesn't sound like that. I have had mildly elevated liver enzymes for a long time, and I am ok. I do have a chronic condition, but it is not life threatening. I just need to eat well
and stay away from alcohol. Again, it may be something passing
for you. Wait for the test results. Let us know how it goes.

Ajourney, calm down! There are a lot of reasons why you're elevated, most quite benign. Are you taking any medications? OTC or Prescription? Get the additional test done and see what's up.

I remember one doc telling me that if you had a drink the day before your liver enzymes could be raised.

Hi, everyone...turns out round two of testing shows everything is good! Apparently, my antigens?? are low, and I have to have my immunizations brought up to date in order to revamp my system a bit...so here I go for a booster shot! Anyway, what a relief, after being so scared to find out is this! I feel like I have been given a "reprieve"!!
