Yesterday, after just over 48 hours of eating by the book, I saw my little testing strip turn pink. I'm telling you this because I was complaining before about not having achieved ketosis.

Well, in ketosis now! Hurrah! And I don't even think my breath is that bad, though I'm constantly drinking water, so that helps.

I'm finding that today I have very little appetite and that two scrambled eggs for breakfast made me feel almost uncomfortably full. I've planned my menu today and it's only about 1000 calories and I don't really think I could eat much more than I have planned.

Should I worry about not having enough calories? DO NOT want to slow my weight loss down.

Thanks

Mo

That's great! :) How long did it take you to get into ketosis?

i have never counted calories on atkins. everyone seems to have a different opinion on that, but i say to focus on what works best for you. i, too, am excited to see i am back in ketosis, i have been on atkins for almost two years, and was struggling to keep all the weight off. i have returned to induction just to get myself re-focused and again, i pay no mind to calories, i just count those carbs--and make sure to eat most of my carbs from vegetables! the great thing about atkins is that you can indeed eat when you feel you need to, as long as you make the right choices. i had become careless counting those carbs and i was just eating more than i could handle. good luck to you and congratulations on a great start. my advice, and ymmv, is to count carbs for now...not calories. later on if loss slows, then take a look at calories.

Thanks!

I took me two days. I tested for ketones just before my evening meal on the third day and strip turned pink. Quite a good feeling that! I'm not sure if I was so excited because it represented progress or because of the sheer science experiment of it all...

I've decided to try and keep my calories rational. That is done by following other rules - like eating most of my carbs from veggies, being moderate about the amount of cheese, cream and fatty meat I eat. But I don't want to reinvent the wheel, so i'm not paying too much attention to calories during induction.

It took me exactly 36 hours. LOL, I counted. I was really surprised to see that strip show "moderate" pink. I did not use them last time around I lost to my goal.

I do watch my calories a bit closer than in the past, just to be on the safe side, as I decided to use Fitday to watch things and it has really helped me.
