I have been on Atkins induction for 2 days. I have been very precise. I log all of my food on fitday and then double check the carb content on Atkins homepage in the "hidden carbs calculator". If I eat even a calcium chew, I log it.

My carb consumption has not gone over 22 grams and my calories on the first day were around 800 and the second day 1400.

I have GAINED a pound!!??

I did Atkins before in 1998 and lost 20 lbs within 6 and 1/2 weeks reaching my goal weight of 115. I don't remember this happening. I remember noticing weight loss the first two days. But it has also been almost 8 years since then.

Does anyone have any idea what is happening? It is a little disconserting. I find it hard to imagine that I gained water weight when low carb consumption makes you loose water the first two weeks. :help:

Although I realize it's scary to see those numbers go in the "wrong" direction, it's really too early for any sort of significant change -- one way or the other. My best advice would be for you to have someone hide your scale and not allow you access too it until you've completed the first full week. Otherwise you can just make yourself crazy!

Could be you're not eating enough (those 800 cals were way too low); could be fluid; could be what you were wearing; could be you are in need of a bowel movement (sorry to be graphic). But the one thing it cannot possibly be is 2 lbs of fat. No way you could gain that with what/how much you're eating an in only a couple of days. Not possible.

Look, you've basically thrown your body into shock with a sudden and abrupt change of eating. There's bound to be a bit of metabolic confusion, if you will. Don't let it rattle you.

HI! Stay off the scales for at least a week. Drink plenty of water daily also. You have just started so give it time. It will work and Mammac-5 is right, the calories are too low. Try to stay at, at least 1350 to 1400 daily. You can adjust the calorie intake as you go, and you see the amount that you can level out at and still lose. But, don't get impatient, the weight will drop. You are goint to retain water also. But, drinking enough of it will surprisingly eventually prevent this! :)
Good Luck and be patient! :)

Layla, can you post your menus so that we can see what you are eating? Sometimes, foods that are legal can cause problems for some people. :)
