I was diagnosed Hypothyroid a few months ago. I have been on Armour ( worked my way up to 2 Grains) for about 2 months. I feel somewhat better. My question is how long does it generally take to feel a lot better? Is it a month or 2, or can it take a lot longer?

Thanks,

Ken

I don't know. :(

Well, for me some things have improved, some have gotten worse. My mental functioning is SOOOOO much better. My joint pain is worse. I have been increasing my meds by about .5 a grain every week or two. I'm going to hold at 3g for awhile. I have heard it can take a long, long time for things that happened to your body while you were hypo to undo themselves.

It can take as many months as it was years you were undiagnosed. For someone who'd been hypo for 10 years and wasn't properly diagnosed it can take up to 10 months to feel better - or longer. You'll find some things improve before others - and some never improve :(

Hi everyone -- I have just been diagnosed as hypothyroid today and my doctor felt strongly enough about it that she called in a prescription for Levothyroxin (50 mcg) to the pharmacy for me to pick up today. She even said it may help me with my weight issues and my attempts to lose weight. I have struggled with my weight since I was a child and have yet to achieve success -- at best, I am just staying to where I can function in life. I do not feel proud of myself as a female and have a difficult time getting the "I am not good enough unless I am thin and pretty" thoughts out of my head. Anyway, I know next to nothing about thyroid disease and am nervous about taking the medication. I have had one dose so far. I have spent the entire evening reading about thyroid disease and medication and am so hopeful this will help me. Any information, words of encouragement would be great!!:)

I guess I must be feeling better, even though I was "tired" today, I managed to hand wash my car, sweep and mop the floors after work.

Nancy, I must ask -- were you tired before or AFTER all of that work!!

Seriously, it is good to hear you were able to do all that -- maybe it DOES mean something is working the way it should for you:)

Hmmm... I wasn't really tired except it was getting towards bedtime and I knew I had to stop and unwind before trying to sleep. I slept like a baby until a strong earthquake woke me at 4 am! Why do they always come at 4 am?
