I'm on day 4 of the South Beach Phase One. I have some
friends coming into town and would like to have a
drink or two with them. If I do, will I undo all the
"work" I've done? Will I have to reboot phase 1 and
start at the begining?

A couple of us other new kids have been wondering the same thing. Is there some metabolic thing I missed when I skimmed the book, is it just that its (1) empty calories should be avoided and (2) our diets tend to go out the window when we drink? :lol:

It's best to avoid alcohol if you can when you're just starting out. If you want to indulge you won't necessarily undo everything but you may find that you do go into a stall.

Some alcoholic drinks to have hidden carbs.... and it is best to avoid the empty calorie syndrome as you said.

Be warned though.... once you start on this WOE you may find that it takes a lot less to make you "happy".

zero carbs in Scotch, rye, gin and vodka but your body will burn the alcohol before it burns fat.

But I don't have to start phase one over? I figure I'll have one to three drinks over the course of this night only.

Not sure how it works that well with SBD.... you migh want to review the book to check.

My theory has always been to enjoy life..... in moderation :lol:... if you want to enjoy time with your friends then do it, but know that it might set you back a few days.
