This looks to me like it's half regular brown sugar and half splenda...or did I read it wrong?

Yup, it's like their half Splenda/half sugar mixture... You're still getting a big ol' load of brown sugar in whatever it is you're making!!

If you need brown sugar, pulse Splenda lightly in the food processor with molasses (or just add both ingredients seperately to the recipe). Yes, molasses has a few carbs, but used in small amounts it's ok for those not on Induction.

Great I much prefer brown sugar to white sugar.

I won't be using this anytime soon. Sugar is sugar mixed with Splenda or not.

Echoing LC-Laur's idea for brown sugar....molassas works great.

To each it's own. However, I feel compelled to educate you. In case you didn't know molasses IS nothing but sugar. I don't know what brand of molasses you are using, but the molasses in my cabinet has 12 grams of carbs per TBSP (11 from sugar). A TBSP of Brown Sugar has 13 grams of carbs. So while your thumbing your nose as Splenda Brown Sugar Blend, to be consistant, you should also thumb your nose at your beloved molasses. As you can see molasses is no better in carb count then brown sugar. The conclusion 12 grams vs. 13 grams, I'll take my chance with the great taste brown sugar for the occasional splurge vs. the taste of molasses. Besides 1 C. Regular Brown Sugar = 1/2 C. Splenda Brown Sugar Blend(part of that 1/2 C. is Splenda Sugar Substitute). But thanks for your opinion.

Sugar Twin (I believe that's the brand) makes a brown sugar substitute that doesn't include any actual sugar - it's just like their white sugar substitute.

Is it available in the U.S.? I'm not sure it is, but I could be wrong.

I live in VA and we have it here, certain stores. I had to search for it here. It's in a yellow box (not as pale as the Splenda yellow). But honestly, unless you like the metallic taste of saccharin, I wouldn't buy it. In the US, it's made with saccharin. In Canada, it's made with cyclamate (sp? Canadians help me out here with the spelling!).

Here is a recipe for brown sugar I just found.

"Brown Sugar"
This recipe is designed to help you replace brown sugar in your dessert recipes.
Makes: enough to replace 1 cup standard brown sugar

1 cup SPLENDAŽ No Calorie Sweetener, Granular
1/4 cup Sugar-Free Maple Syrup (made with SPLENDAŽ Brand Sweetener)

Pour ingredients into a small mixing bowl and mix well. Use as brown sugar in your favorite baked recipes where brown sugar is required. Makes 1/4 cup (enough to replace 1 cup of standard brown sugar).

There is more to a food than just the carb count. You also have to consider how healthy a food is.

Considering brown sugar(and white sugar) is nearly void of any nutrients at all and molassas is much fuller I shall still thumb my nose at it.

Brown sugar 1/2 cup

Calcium 47 mgs
magnisium 16 mgs
potassium 190

Molassas 1/2 cup

calcium 168 mgs
magnesium 198 mgs
potassium 1200 mgs

My opinion is just that, my opinion. I will not be wasting my money on a brown sugar "blend" because sugar is still sugar. I was not forcing you not to buy it or substitute molassas.

But hey! I thank you for your opinion ;)

The Brown Sugar Twin in the US is not the same as the kind available in Canada. You can't cook/bake with the US kind......

Saccarhin makes me ill, always has done. If I need sugar, which I only have on raspberries when very sharp I use a little Fruitsana which is fruit sugar. And only about a teaspoon of it.
I don't have any kind of sugar in tea or coffee and have little other use for it. I will try Splenda when I make cakes but I don't much like the taste so far.
