i started south beach a week ago and have lost 4 pounds. i like it better than Atkins because you get more veggies and you can have snack ie (nuts, cheese, or a great dessert which is low fat ricotta with splenda almond extract and sliced almonds) i feel full and hope to be successful.

Welcome to the Beach!!
I suggest that you read the book and then come back to ask questions.
The first thread in this forum has links to a site(mizfrogspad.com) that gives you the food lists for each phase. It also has a chart called How To Adapt Your Meal PLan which I found very helpful when I first started.
Good Luck! :D

Hi there... I just started on the beach as well. I'm finding that neurotically keeping track of everything that I eat really helps. So per the suggestion of some of the old timers, I started a journal - they then posted some really useful information on it for me. Feel free to check it out.
By the way, I'm on day 4. Withdrawal much better today (I think the exercise last night really helped) although I'm still sleeping really poorly. Oh well. That said, even though I promised I wouldn't get on the scale until Monday, I broke down this morning - I've lost 2 lbs.
Good luck...
