Am "seriously" considering going to my MD for a RX to one of these medications, mainly to stop the nasty smoking habit. Just wondering if anyone else has tried one of these medications and can tell me how it has fit in to this WOE!? Knowing that these are also medications used to treat deprssion, I think they might be useful for this WOE....? thoughts, suggestions, experiences?

i used wellbutrin and it seriously cut down on my smoking, as in i didn't think about it much and that was kind of neat, but i also found it to be true, what the doctor said about a quit date. i don't know if you build up tolerance or what, but eventually i was smoking as much as ever as i did not actually target a time to quit. hope that helps you some.

I tried Wellbutrin to quit smoking about 2-3 years ago. Just like PlayDoh, I cut way back at first then started smoking more and more until I was back up to a pack a day. Eventually I just quit taking the pills, gave up smoking cold turkey and was successful. I did lose a little weight when I was on the pills though. No cravings for nicotine also meant no cravings for junk food.

I went on Zyban last year at this time and I was on Atkins at the time, on a modified induction. As for it affecting my WOE I don't think there were any affects? It didn't really seem to have much effect on my eating habits or vice versa.

I will say that the dreams and nightmares for 3 months were unreal. However, a friend of mine was also on it at the same time and his dreams were all like movie and not scarey like mine. So it will affect your sleep in some form or another. Other then that no side affects for me.

As for quitting smoking...Eh...that didn't work :) I did quit for about 3 months (while i was on it) but I wasn't ready to quit...or maybe I just didn't want it bad enough? While I was on it I was fine, but when I went off of it I slowly started back into smoking.

Everyone is different tho..that was just my experience.
