I was taking weekly B12 shots for more than a year and loved them. Ran out and new doctor doesn't believe in them. Taking pill form, methylcobalamin, and it's not clear if I'm absorbing as much this way. Do you let them dissolve under your tongue (pain in the tail) or chew them (Dr. A's suggestion)?
There is a liquid b-12 that you can let dissolve under your tongue which is supposed to be more absorbable. I've tried it and wow did I feel it!

There is also a type that you inhale. I have never tried it, but my aunt swears by it.

I've always heard that you absolutely have to take the B's in combination, that you can't - and shouldn't - supplement one of the B's without the rest. Can anybody comment on this? I'm curious... (Although I must say that I got a TON of energy from L-Carnitine - I'm never giving it up! I take 3gm (3000mg) a day and it's fabulous!)

And used to follow it, until one doctor wrote the script for B12 shots and they changed my life. (there's some of the other Bs in my multi, admittedly, but not as high as I'm pushing the B12).
Current plan is to take the oral B12 daily--had been trying to remember "twice a week" but that's too hard. I can do "daily" much more easily. See what happens. Could be coincidence, but after two days of "daily," I'm feeling more clarity and energy late in the day. Also, made it on "normal" portions without too much mental/emotional effort for the first time since the last shot wore off.
Just went back to Dr. A's Vitanutrient Solution and he recommends additional B supplementation when doing serious dosing of any of the individuals so maybe I need to stop by the vitamin store when I'm out this afternoon... Heaven only knows, my current energy level, focus and output are not candidates for poster-child status.

I also took the shots for several months after having a B-12 deficiency, and then my Neuro switched me to a prescription called Foltx, which is a combination of B-12, B-6 and folic acid, and it keeps my B-12 up fine.
I decided to buy these seperate and take them that way, it is cheaper than the Foltx, which cost me $13.00 a month. my understanding is these must be taken together in the right combination to be effective. My Neuro says this protects the heart, especially in women.
