I was told to use this for a siatica and hip problem. I know it says not to use if you have diabetes. I don't have diabetes but i am concerned that if this med raised your blood sugar it may be counter productive to my diet. the total grams of carbs is only 2 per day but I want to be sure it will not effect my ongoing diet.
I take glucosamine chondroitin -- no problems with this WOE. But ifI stop taking it, in a few weeks I start having knee problems again (stiff, achy -- can't kneel down or get up easily).
And my daughter (type 1 diabetic for the past 25 years) has been prescribed this for some arthritis flareups by her endocrinologist.....

I used to take glucosamine and chondroitin and it really worked well for my knees. It helps my husband too. Then I read that glucosamine might stall weight loss but chondroitin doesn't. I don't know if this is true, but by then I had also read that Sam-e is good for the joints and I had already added that to my pile of supplements. So I stopped the glu-chon. and kept the Sam-e because of it's mood stablizing benefit, and my joints are still doing great. As long as I stay away from wheat, I have very little joint problems. Hope this is helpful, something to think about anyway--Gail

I take gluc/chon as more of a preventive, but when you read the label, it's quite alarmist. So I called my endo (I have hyperthyroidism) and she said just don't take it less than 2 hours before I take my thyroid med. But I have been stalled now for 8 weeks, so maybe I'll do what Gail does and take Sam-e. Anybody know WHY glucosamine is supposed to stall weight loss? It can't be the paltry carbs alone!

I've been taking glucosamine/codroitin for 6 years and it hasn't interferered with my weight loss. When I'm losing, lol!!!

Much of the joint pain is arthritis which is inflammation of the joints. Omega 3s and other supplements will help with reducing inflammation. I have been taking G&C for many years and found that the Omega 3s are just as important. I recommend both.
