I know this has been covered in the past, but I am looking into Dreamfields pasta. Who here uses it? And how does it affect you? I never plan to go back to white flour, sugar, rice, or regular pasta. I tried low carb pasta in the past and it sucked. Dreamfields is real pasta, but made in a way that almost all the carbs act like fiber and ass right on by. Only 5 net carbs per serving. I have read that many diabetics who tried it saw no significant spike in blood sugar levels. What was your expierience with it if you use it? I know there are other alternatives like Kanjac foods, but I like the idea of pasta tasting like pasta without 45 grams net carbs.

I eat it fairly regularly (probably once or twice a week) and it's never caused any problems or stalls for me. It is simply FANTASTIC. I swear you won't know it's not regular pasta (DH eats it all the time and he definitely doesn't need to LC). My advice is to try it and see if it affects you. I haven't heard of it negatively affecting anyone so far. Beware if it causes cravings though. (It doesn't for me.)

Is it difficult to figure out how many carbs in a serving? :q:

I eat it and LOVE it!! :D

It does taste just like regular pasta which is a weakness for me so I only allow myself myself to have it as a treat about once every 2 weeks. I'm afraid that I'd start eating it daily and that is binge behavior to me. ;)

I make a double portion and eat it with marinara sauce, chicken breast and some veggies tossed in.

I tried it for the first time today. I bought the linguini.

I split a double portion with my son, and we both devoured it..
It was very good, and being a pasta addict, it fit the bill for me.. Only thing I noticed was that I was hungry again shortly after.

I've used it sparingly and I can't tell the difference between it and 'real' pasta. The problem I have is that I can't stop eating it! I'll eat some then as soon as I get hungry again I'll eat another serving...

I usually make tuna casserole (2 servings of elbow macaroni, cooked, 1 can of tuna, then sour cream, bit of cream, and grated cheddar - combine all of it and put in a greased casserole dish, cover and bake) :yum: :yum: :yum:

I just bought 2 boxes! They didn't have the linguinie. I got the macaroni and spagg. I am looking foward to trying this! maybe tommorrow or Friday.

I will have to be careful:)

I can understand why you might feel hungry after. As 36 of the carbs just come out the other end:lol: It is practilly eating nothing(well, 5 grams of carbo nothing:)

I can't wait to try it!

I combine it with a protein and veggie and I do not go for another portion as I only make what I will eat.

If you make your meal big enough so that you are truly full when you are finished, you should be quite satisified!!

This is not a food to have in unlimited quatities as it is made from white flour...which for many of us, myself included, is a substance that has been abused in the past.

I've tried the spaghetti, elbows and penne rigate. I tried the elbows first and made my wife's mother macoroni and cheese recipe using Atkins bake mix as the flour. It came out excellen. I baked it in small one serving custard dishes so I would have 5 gram portions to eat durring the week. Everyone loved it except the 8 year olds they don't like the Cheddar Cheese they want the smooth Kraft sauce. Next we did the penne with Carb Options Alfredo sauce and grilled chicken brest mad into a casserol. Every one in the family liked it except the 8 year olds as they had neverceaten penne noodles they liked the sauce and chicken. I use the Carb Option Garden Style Sauce and the spaghetti. I have a small postal scale and I measure out 5.6 grams worth of spaghetti. I am very pleased with it I just wish they would make a vermicelli.

I love this. It is really good if you melt cheese and broccoli in the penne kind leaving just a little of the water from the boiling process. I HAVE to limit myself because it is sooooo good.

I'm really leery of these from reading the label. A whole ton of carbs that supposedly aren't digestable, but aren't listed as fibre.

Obviously there is precedent for this. I've found polydextrose and maltodextrin to be useful in my low-carb diet thanks to their low absorption.

The primary ingredient in these is Semonilla flour. Doesn anyone know of any documentation on the digestability of this product to back up the claims on the box?

PILOTGAL... If you felt hungry shortly after, you probably experienced a spike in blood sugar level. When I first started atkins, I asked them about the low carb products that were starting to hit the shelves... They said something along the lines of, "if you feel hungry or drained (tired) within 2 hours of eating something, then it probably isn't suitable for the atkins diet." There has been some who have said that DREAMFIELDS did in fact kick them out of ketosis. I was kicked out of ketosis, but we later found out that this was due to me "re-heating" the pasta, which is something you cannot do. Something about the fiber coating no longer able to block the consumption of the carbs.

I think this sounds a bit iffy. I will definitely stay away from it until there are more studies. It sounds too good to be true, and such things usually are. If they really ARE able to make their molecules such that the enzymes can't get a handle on them, it still sounds like that property is easy to damage in a number of ways.

Protein/fiber-based pasta for me for the forseeable future.

Not easy to find in my area (NE Ohio) only Tops supermarkets have it, I can't believe how great it is. My Friend Boy loves bsketti, I made us dreamfields and meatballs, and allowed for 2 servings each, we couldn't finish it all. Did not seem to induce cravings...even so I'm keeping it for once in a while, as I am doing
induction (again)

I personally eat this on a regular basis with no ill effects of any kind. I usually find that a 2oz dry portion cooked is more than enough for me I remain satisfied for hours. I have tried all types and from what I have heard they are coming out with a lasagna version soon as well.

I've eaten Dreamfields on two occasions and loved it. It didn't affect my blood sugar at all. But I seem to be having another side effect. Both times I ate it, I had to hot foot it to the bathroom the next morning. I ate a 3/4 cup serving with veggies and some chicken both times. Has anyone else noticed this?

Interesting....just about everyone says it caused no weight loss problems. I might have to give it a try.

hot foot it to the bathroom the next morning.

Dreamfields pasta gets the carbs down by infusing the pasta with fiber....thats why you had to hot foot it to the bathroom!! :D

Thats a good thing in my book!! :agree:

judynyc, I wish that were true, but if you check out the fibre content, in the Nutritional Facts, you will see that cannot be so. If there is a great deal of fibre (i.e. 30+ grams) then it would be listed. And it would be to their advantage, as we all accept that fibre carbs get deducted from the total carb count.

I am a Type 1 diabetic and find that my blood sugar rises after 2 hours of eating the pasta. I woke up the next morning with alarming high blood sugars. I did this 3 x. I believe the carb counts to be inaccurate and that the carbs are quite high. I did the same "tests" with Carbquik (10 grams total carbs, 8 grams fibre = 2 grams net) with no rise in blood sugar.

I did a bit of reading on the dreamsfield website and discovered that they determined the carb count by testing subjects up to 2 hours after eating the product. They stopped after 2 hours. I also understand that Pasta, although high in carbs is a low Gylcemic Index product (i.e. rated in the 30s), so I am convinced they were estimating GI on the product and converting into carb counts which we are more accustomed to.

I LOVE it! I have eaten it a few times and it does not affect me. I still lose the weight.

A few days ago I made a great sauce for them.

Heavy whipping cream, garlic, onion, porkchops cut into small strips(can use chicken, and spinach. Itt was soooo good! I only it the pasta once a week so I don't get addicted. It has really heped me live without bread and potatoes. I feel it is a reward for me. When I hve eaten bread(only twice since Feb), I notice my weight is up a pound or two the next day. With the Dreamfields, I was down a pound so it does not affect me.
So glad people are still visiting this thread. I can't wait for them to release other products:)

I make a kind of "hamburger helper" type thing with the elbows, carb-options cheddar cheese sauce and ground beef. Ultimate comfort food. Using ONE portion size of elbows and sauce mixed with the ground beef makes a large serving, enough for two as a matter of fact.
