WEll, I am wondering about supplements. Right now, I need to lose about 100 lbs, and I'm taking Udo's Oil which has Omega 3's, 6's, and 9's, Borage Oil and Atkins Basic #3. I was wondering if I need to include a B Complex to the mix. I am also thinking about taking 5HTP in the future... If anyone has any advice on this, I'd appreciate it..

I don't know what's in Atkins Basic 3; I'm guessing it's a standard multi-vitamin? I also take 500 mg of carnitine (recommended in Atkins book) 3 times a day and I also take 100mg of CoQ10. Both of those, according to Atkins, are good supplements for weight loss. For general health, I take pycnogenol, grape seed extract (I don't drink, but I want the resveratrol), glucosamin/chondroitin (purely as a prophylactic measure, not because I have symptoms), fish oil, evening primrose oil, vitamin E, Teavigo (green tea extract in a capsule), lecithin, a multi, folic acid, selenium, and vitamin C. Check your Atkins 3 to see if has a B complex in it - many multis do, but not all, so you need to check the label. Not sure what 5HTP will do for you.

Good luck!

You have some good choices there with Udo's oil and Atkins #3. #3 has a decent amount of the B vitamins so I don't think you would require an additional B supplement.

I take Atkins 3 (a multi plus things like chromium for weight loss and insulin sensitivity) fish oil, CoQ10, alpha lipoic acid, and selenium. I alternate taking an Atkins 3 after dinner with a Bodyshaping multi after breakfast. The Bodyshaping multis are similar to Atkins 3, but available for only $2.99 from www.netrition.com and include natural caffine, green tea, and guarana (another type of caffine).

Pre-workout I drink Creatine Titrate and post workout I drink a whey protein smoothie with glutamine. The creatine is supposed to boost workout endurance and the whey and glutamine help with muscle repair/building. Whey powder is reported to be a great booster for the immune system. I've been around many people with colds in the past year but have avoided illness so far. I'm not sure if the diet, supplements, or whey have been the biggest factor. Best wishes on your new adventure, Jennifer.

Thanks so much for the great advice. I think I'll have to invest in some of these vitamins..:) Thanks also for the well-wishes and good luck in your journey, as well.
