I just started taking Hoodia this week and I do feel less hungry than usual. I am taking a 500mg. pill 3 times a day. I got them at the CVS store and they were 39.95 for 60. They are the DEX-L10 and they are suppose to be the purest and strongest form. I will try them a while and see what happens.

Hi Lan, You might want to give the Hoodia another week to work. I read that you should give it about 3 weeks to get into your system. I was discouraged too by the Hoodia the first week also. But, I just suddenly lost the cravings, the appetite, and I am pretty sure it is the Hoodia that is doing that. I was craving like crazy and having a terrible time keeping the carbs down before the time it seem to kick in. The bloat went away also. I was bloated bad too. Just keep taking it. The hoodia should kick in and work for you. I also take CLA, CQ10, and Alpha liponic Acid. Maybe that combination did it!
Good luck to you and post if it kicks in for you. I am curious as to how many people are really seeing it work for them in the time they say it takes to kick in.
Have a Great Day

Tryptophan...5HTP...Tyrosine...and now chalk hoodia up as yet another supplement that has absolutely no effect on my appetite.
I can take a valium...percocet...Hoodia you name it and nothing can stop a carb binge once the thought has crossed my mind.
sounds redundant, simple, and stupid but reading is truley the only thing that works for me.

Well continue to read! :D . How long did you take the hoodia? I had to wait about two weeks for it to kick in. Don't get me wrong, I still have craving. I don't think there is anything going to totally stop that. Especially if you have ate something that has sugar, sugar alcohols, or anything else that you missed in the ingredents in foods. But the Hoodia has helped me. And, if reading helps you that is what you need to do.
Good Luck!

Hi I take 6 capules a day. 2 in the morning, 2 before lunch, and 2 before dinner. Actually it says to take it about an hour before each meal. Try it for about 3 weeks you may see that it works for you also.
Good Luck

the only thing is the price of the stuff. I live in Edmonton and I have to pay $50.00 for it. I think I will stick to my Ephedra it is the only thing that has worked for me. I understand that every one thinks it will kill you but I have never had one bad side effect yet. People also told me that doing a low carb diet would never work and it has been a 54pound waight loss since Jan 1 2005. So go Figure hey. LOL

Its not that ephedra wont help with weight loss. It will. But like already mentioned over and over, it is unhealthy, and dangerous. Just like smoking. Sure you can have no side effects now, doesnt mean you wont have serious problems in the future.

valium? what does valium have to do with cravings unless your sleeping...anyhow, yes i will keep you posted Brenda but like atmaster said it does come expensive if you live on this side of the border cause in all, my bottle came out to almost 70$ and took 2 weeks to get it..so like i said, i will see what happens after this bottle but doubt i will stay on it...i cant exercise much anymore, waiting for a buillon surgery  but being a pig headed italian, i still get up and try to power walk not as fast as before and then im in pain for a few hours...i just refuse to sit and do nothing....that is why i am trying the Hoodia cause i did gain some inches cause im not into my routine like i use too...so the proof is there...you have got to get off your butt and move... :agree: will keep intouch to see what is happening.. ...

Yes well we wont know if Hoodia will have any side effects either right. Effedra has been around for thousand years and is proven not to be as bad for you as you think. if you take the hole bottle of Hootia that might do some thing to your body. I think I am going to stick to what works.

An acquaintance of mine is looking into being a Canadian distributor for Hoodia..that might help us with the cost.
I didnt notice much in the first week, however, the second week seemed very easy to be less preoccupied with food? Not sure if it was the Hoodia or my desire for the Hoodia to work....
And with the $$ of it to be shipped in from the U.S., Im not sure if I will continue.
I've been taking hoodia now for 12 weeks, and I've lost 23 pounds (started at 160, weighed 137 this morning -- I'm 5'7").
I've been low-carbing for many years, and was actually slowly gaining weight. The hoodia has enabled me to take it off, and I'm almost to where I want to be. My dress size has gone from a 12 to a 6!!!!! And I'm wearing size 8 jeans (maybe a size 6 shortly, the 8's were feeling a bit too comfortable...)
At no time have I considered the hoodia a magic cure -- I've consistently stayed low-carb, and I've carefully watched what I eat, making sure I have adequate protein, etc., etc. I also exercise each and every morning.
I have every intention of buying a supply of the hoodia (I take Desert Burn) and using it (as needed) for maintenance.
This past week has been a major test for the hoodia -- my daughter was married Saturday. I made the wedding dress and the flower girl's dress, did a lot of the wedding planning/running around, and dealt with a very stressed-out bride who managed to get angry with each of her sisters (all of whom were in the wedding party). My husband and I stayed in a motel (the wedding was out-of-town for us), and ate out every meal. The actual wedding had only "nibble food" -- lots of cookies, wedding cake, sweet punch, etc., etc. Not once was I tempted off the low-carb regime, and I kept my eating very much on track!
I do not take a full dose of hoodia -- typically I take one capsule as I leave work -- and this past weekend I would take one whenever I started feeling hungry (never took more than 3 in one day).
For me it absolutely works. I tried everything else over the years, so I very much doubt there's any "placebo" effect -- else the CLA or trimspa or growth hormone or .... would have worked.

Hi! And Happy Easter! Hoodia I believe is best for suppressing your appetite. Its not a fat burner. I have taken it for about a month, and the only thing I noticed in that time is I am not as hungry. In fact I have a bad habit of not eating when I should. I also take Cravex. It helps with cravings. I believe that the Cravex really works for me, I don't have the cravings I once had. The hoodia has not helped me with weight loss, and I believed it would. Actually nothing I have taken has, I have been stalled since I began Atkins again in the first part of February.
I don't know what you want to pay for the Hoodia, but I have found that at www.thebestlittlevitaminshop.com it is the cheapest. It is the Desert Burn.
Good Luck

Monday morning -- I'm back at work and my mother has gone back to Florida -- everything is back to "normal".....
This past week has been hectic, Mom wanted to do a lot of running around, which included stopping for lunch and then "just a little something...." frequently. Once at the mall she had a cinnabon, couldn't eat the entire one and wanted to split it with me -- I wasn't even tempted! I actually threw away 1/2 of a cinnabon! (I never, ever thought that could happen!!!)
This morning I weighed 135.5 pounds! I would have been really happy just to have not gained weight over the past 2 weeks! And instead I dropped some more weight!
:yay: I like this stuff! :yay:

I did take it for about a week and a bit I think there was about 50 pills in the bottle I had and I cant say that I felt to much. I just hear so many people say that they are lossing all this weight on it and thought it was because of some thing in the pill that was doing that. realy I do not have to much trouble with the cravings I get them but just do some thing else. So in my case I think I will save the $50.00. It was a day of all days yesterday it was Turkey time. Well I ate a lot of the Turkey but my wife is very proud of her meals and well I had to eat some of the bad stuff. I ate just a little of stuffing and some mash patatoes (well did not realy eat them kinda faked it LOL) and she made me this tiny little bun it was so funny. All in all I loged it in the fitday and I are 44 grams of carbs wich is a lot for me I have not eaten over 15 grams since January. But my callories were under 1000 that was a little weied. How did all of you do??
Brenda -- I take Desert Burn (started with hoodiahoodia, but the shipping was a mess, took a couple of months and lots of followups to get my bottle of hoodia) -- my last bottle I ordered from the www.bestlittleviataminshop.com (http://www.bestlittleviataminshop.com) -- cheapest I could find was there.
Remember though -- it does not eliminate my appetite, it just has gotten it "under control" -- I still get hungry, but no longer have to immediately eat, I can now choose what to eat (big difference for me!) and I can better gauge my degree of satiation when I do eat -- I don't stuff myself anymore, it's enabling to get more in tune with my hunger/saiety point).

Well, my update so far is, ive been on desert burn for over 2 weeks and nothing is happening. It didnt stopped any craving even though I can control them myself. Didnt lose any weight either. I dont see any difference so far taking them or not. Like I said, I will finish the bottle because in all it cost me almost 70$ in price and shipping over the border. I dont think I will buy another one cause I am almost finish the bottle and nothing is happening. Like they say, no magic out there. The only thing I can think why they arent working right now is I already dont eat much and I eat very well. Well you know what i mean...
BKM, I read somewhere cant find it, and i think you mentioned something happened in your life not long ago and you couldnt eat lost of appetit something about depressing..maybe your body already had a start on diminishing cause you werent eating much from the start because of bad news and it got use to it and hoodia just enhanced it more...hmmm im reading what i just typed not sure if it makes sense...lol...so basically your body was on a start of eating less and you just continued it...anyhow its working for you and im glad it is...for me, nothing...time will tell by the end of the bottle...just that if it does work by the end of the bottle, it will take another 2 weeks before i get them again..will keep you posted till i reach the end of hoodia...
Lanny, you must be confusing me with someone else. I started the hoodia this January, and life has been good (hectic, perhaps, but that's normal!). I sometimes have bad things happen, but that's life....and it's been no different lately than it's always been.
I have been low-carbing for perhaps 10 years, and my weight had started creeping up over the past several years. By January I was up to 160 pounds (I like to be at 130 pounds). I had tried any number of tweaks and supplements (induction WOE, growth hormone, CLA, l-carnitine, etc., etc.) and nothing worked -- so when the hoodia kicked in for me I really don't think it was psychological. I think that, even though I had been eating correctly, I was still ingesting too many calories (think nuts and cheese) -- and the hoodia has enabled me to control my eating, make good choices....
I have recently gone through a very hectic 2 weeks: daughter getting married (I made both the bridal dress and the flower-girl dress), 84-year-old mother visiting for the 2 weeks (she still manages to tire me - LOL!), and juggling a full-time job with part-time contract work (while taking off time for everything else).... And throughout this, with all the extra food temptations, I lost weight!
I don't know why the hoodia works for me and not for others. Back in 1994, I went to an acupuncturist and with his help I lost more than 60 pounds (my initial weight was 190, I actually got down to 117, then had to gain a bit because it was too low) -- many of the women I worked with tried him too when they saw my success -- and it worked for perhaps 1/2 of them, the others saw no effect.... (I tried finding another acupuncturist when I began struggling with weight again, but I had moved away from the original one and each one I tried here had different techniques from his -- and they didn't work...)
I guess we simply each have unique body chemistries and have to find what works for us....
Best of luck with figuring out what you need to lose weight!

That is the same one I have been using! Great, I will continue to order from there. I have just read so much controversy over imitations, and most of the Hoodia in the US being bogus, that I was not sure if it was a good site, or a good product. But, it is the same one I am recieving.
Thanks for your response

Sorry BMK, must of mis-read the post in the thread Hoodia on page 5...again sorry and like I said, I am glad it is working for you...and yes we do get bad news off and on in our lives...ive been walking more now bunion or no bunion im determine not to give up my power walk...so for now i just walk 4Ks in 40minutes...but thats ok...once i get my foot fix i will be back to normal speedy gonzalez...lol...well dont give up guys...spring is here and lets kick butts and go out there :hyper:
Hi Lanny -- I found the spot that you were referring to -- and now I remember that yes, I was depressed for a while with some bad news (via a phone call) -- however, this happens at various times, you get knocked down then bounce back up and keep going.....
I don't think it had any weight-loss effect, though -- I've been trying to lose this weight for a couple of years -- and believe me, I've had my share of "bad news" days -- wouldn't it be nice if life proceeded in an orderly fashion and nothing bad happened??????
I'm still waiting for my son to find a job (Ph.D. chemist, new grad) -- and my son-in-law has had no end of major back problems/surgeries, will never have full use of his back again -- and I have 2 kids in the Air Force, a son-in-law in the Army (Rangers, Special Forces), 2 nephews in the Air Force and Army, and a grandson in the Air Force, lots to worry about there....
Anyway, on a more cheerful note -- what I can control is going well, and I'm basically happy!

OH BKM, im so sorry you didnt have to explain to me or anyone whatsoever why you felt like that that day...im i so sorry thats not what i meant...i truly didnt want any explaination cause it isnt any of my business...i didnt mean it that...im truly sorry...
and for your son that just came out of school, give him time he will find something after all hes fresh out of school...ive been in the education field for years and you will see he will find something...your a strong woman...im sure the whole family will do just fine...hang in there....
Hi Lan  -- no need for apologizing, no insult was implied or taken.
What do you do in the education field? My son (the one with his Ph.D. in chemistry, awarded back in August -- graduated magna cum laud then had a full fellowship to Tulane) has been finding job opportunites really scarce -- he's going on his third interview next week (and believe me, my fingers and toes are crossed, my prayers and pleas are being lifted, etc., etc.!). He's truly a brilliant young man -- but the first job that he was "almost" offered ended up being "frozen"......, the second was because a friend set him up for an interview, when he got there they had no position.... This upcoming one is an actual posted job and he's gotten by the initial phone screen --but so have a few others, and I'm sure they're also quite talented.....
And anyway, off my personal woes -- my weight this morning was 134 pounds! And last night I made macaroni and cheese :yum: (using Dreamfields macaroni, plus about 1/4 cup of (gasp) white flour in the cheese sauce). Figure I ate about 1/20 of the recipe, so if the Dreamfields pasta is for real, then the carb count wasn't too terrible -- but it sure felt decadent eating it!
Just looked it up -- white flour has 23 ECC/quarter cup, so that should only be about 1 ECC -- and the Dreamfields macaroni was 40 ECC per recipe -- so if this stuff is really the way it's advertised, what a treat!
Well, I'll see what I weigh tomorrow -- was figuring that once I got this close to goal it would go much slower.... But I'll take it this way :hyper:

For me, the Hoodia is working really well, I think I started taking it like 4 weeks ago, a little more than that maybe. I take the Flora brand. I just got the stuff with a bit of caffine in it the other day. I am not caffine sensitive, it actually helps with weight loss.
I eat once a day, I make sure it is a high fat food as well, it keep me filled. Like egg salad and cheese. Then I feel full, but I don't stuff myself *like I used to* no cravings either.
I just went to an all you can eat buffet the other day...I barely ate anything, I didn't stuff myself either. Then a few days after that I went out to all you can eat chicken wings....same thing happened there. Normally I would have ate more than what I should have and then been hungry an hour and a half later. Nope. This stuff is really working. I love it!

my problem: i only work friday, sturday and sunday night shift so i take my pills and vitamins great during those days but when i am home with the kids during the week i never take them and that is when i gain the weight. i like my naps with the kids and i guess that i am afraid that i wont want to nap if i take my supplements.

Hi Bonnie: Just wondering which Hoodia you are taking, i.e., brand, dosage, etc. thanks
I take Desert Burn, purchase it through Best Little Vitamin Shop (http://www.thebestlittlevitaminshop.com/) .
I've found that 1 capsule, just as I leave work, works for me -- and an extra capsule if I'm going into a "temptation" (i.e. eating out, party) situation. However, if you read the Desert Burn Forum (http://www.createforum.com/phpbb/viewforum.php?f=2&mforum=hoodia) , you'll see that everyone varies with the dosage that works for them -- many people seem to start at 6 capsules/day, then work at finding the right dosage for their particular body.
And it doesn't seem to work for everyone -- but I have a strong suspicion that low-carbing really gives you an advantage there!
I've reached my goal (130#, size 6 pants), and I'm working on maintaining. I take a hoodia capsule only on weekends (when we go out to eat), or when my morning weight is up 1 pound.... Still playing with this, expect that I'll work myself off the hoodia except for the tempting situations....
