Hi guys. just wanted to know if there's anyone in this support group from the Philippines? If so, would you guys know where to find "controlled-carb tortillas" and the other specialized atkins food recommended in the book? Because I really don't want to order from the net. hehe. (i'm not used to it)

thanks all!

I live in Puerto Galera. It's too hard to stay on LC for me now. It's so hard to find salad!

try healthy options, they have lots of LC stuff :) also, some of the rustans would have.. rustans ayala has so much health food, I bought alot of russel stovers chocolate from there =p uh, these are the LC cheat products =p

for main food when I'm in philippines I just eat normally, minus the obvious carbs.. so order without rice etc. works out fine.

Hi all! I am a low-carber, moving to Manila next year. My husband and I go to Filipino restaurants in the DC Metro area and enjoy it a great deal. However, we fail to find much on the menu that is lower carb. Any ideas of what to order?

I LOVE TO PANCIT BUHOL! YUMMMMMMMMM!

my inlaws make that and i never liked it...we're going to nyc to visit them in a couple of weeks and mil cooks ALL THE TIME...my sil is in manila now visiting for three weeks. i'm the only person not filipino in the family lol. i love them though, super nice. my sil wanted me to go with her to manila this month but then she remembered i'll probably get kidnapped being white lol. my husband and his family imigrated to nyc and san diego...most live here but there are a few members back in the philipines. that's amazing your moving there for work, i've never heard of anyone moving there because of that...gltu

I'm surprised! There are so many American companies and organizations in Manila. As a fellow white girl, I can tell you that you're pretty safe with exception of Mindinao (the southern island). You'd really have to make an effort to get all the way down there. Traffic and pollution are your big obstacles.

What kinds of Filipino food do you enjoy? I know very little about it, except the noodles and adobo I mentioned.

you know what, i don't know any of it's names..lol. i know my dh's family makes all kinds of soups from sour to sweet, i did like this chicken dish that his grandmother made in october when we were there...it was sooo good, and could possible be turned into a low carb dish. it was made with tomatoes and vegetables...i'll get the recipe when i go there next week. they make ALOT of seafood dishes and i don't care for seafood. from what i gather from his family and friends in california and nyc, his mom is the number one cook in the family...she is really really good at making everything...i know she makes food and sells it to people because when i'm there she always has a string of people coming in to pick up either stirfrys or chicken adobos, or eggrolls. i love when she visits because she comes with her pots and pans and cooks all day long...well i liked it when i wasn't dieting at least lol. she made a beautiful stuffed chicken in june when i was there..it was stuffed with sausage and some type of stuffing mixture...it was really good...it's funny, they don't refridgerate ANYTHING. i tell my dh all the time i think he has an intolerance to somenella (?) because i get sick very easily from different types of foods if they go bad...they on the other hand will make some dish and it will sit out on the counter for a day or two until gone...i don't touch it after the first night lol. i grew up in a household where everything gets thrown into the fridge after we ate for fear of it going bad..germaphobic household. maybe one day we'll get there. my dh and i want to go to paris and italy, hopefully next year...after that maybe head back to his home country. when are u moving there?

Kumusta kayo!! I haven't seen any recent posts so I thought I'd chime in. Moving to Manila in a month. Any LC groups in Manila? Don't know where I'm living yet, maybe Ft. Benefacio, but not confirmed yet.
