I was wondering if anyone, especially those who have been on Atkins awhile, have experienced hair loss related to weight loss. I've lost a lot of weight rapidly, almost 60 lbs in the last 5.5 months and my hair is beginning to fall out and it is getting very thin. I have very little hair to begin with and I can't afford to lose much. I use Nioxin and it has helped in the past but it doesn't seem to be helping now. Any advice?

Hi Breakable,

Can you tell me how much Biotin you take daily? I take a high potency vitamin b complex daily, one capsule has 0.1 mg, is that enough Biotin?

Last year i lost a lot of hair due to Menopause, i had very thick hair all the one length, eventually it setteled down but is not the same but i can cope with it, i'm dreading it starting to fall again due to diet or weight loss, i'm only on Atkins four weeks so i suppose if my hair will shed it should happen in about three months.
Maybe i should take more Biotin? Await your reply and thank you.

I have the same problem. From what a doctor told me, the rapid weight loss doesn't give your body time to produce the sells to grow as much hair as it used to since your body is in a transition period. Once the weight loss slows down, it will slow down and new hair should start growing (hopefully)

I had that problem, too last year. Biotin does help but for the most part; it just took time. While you are waiting, use a product call Tigi, Bedhead, Small talk. That stuff makes your hair look fuller and thicker. I swear by it. Be sure to totally get it through your hair, though so you don't have white build-up.

I meant to post this a minute ago. Suave for Men Deep Cleaning Formula Shampoo really does wonders in helping me to keep some of my hair as well. The last time I was on this diet, my hair was falling out by the handfulls. Last summer, my wife bought me the shampoo and I have been using it every since. My hair has gotten fuller and thicker. And, this time, since I have started LCing again, it has been falling out less than it did the last time. May want to try some of that.
