Hello all
Today I bought Twinlab's Chromium Picolinate
CHROMIC FUEL

I was reading the ingredients other than Chromium
I found : Potato Starch, Cellulose, Gelatin, Purified Water, Magnesium Stearate, MCT
First 3 ingredients scared me.. so I didn't take any capsules
According to atkins diet, am I allowed to take this supplement ?

I bought also multivitamin, I found in excipients :
Microcrystalline cellulsoe, HPMC, kollidon, maize starch, magnesuim sterate, silicon dioxide , talc, orange yellow, glycerol
This one is also scary.. so is it ok to take it :)

My chromium has nothing like that I can tell except for the cellulose which is similar to gelatin ( I think ) which is protein. Potato starch? Why is that in there I wonder?

Now it has just occured to me that cellulose is from wood pulp and it is put in some wheat breads for fiber content.

Hello,

Black57, I'ma also wondering why it contains potato starch, also, the multivitamin contains maize starch ..

So, my question, is this acceptable in atkins diet or not?
I read in atkins.com that potato starch has no impact in blood sugar..

You want to try to get supplements with no starches or sugars. Cellulose is fine.

YMMV.

How "pure" are you working the program? I don't count what's in my vitamins, for the record. It's just baseline. (That said, I do pay attention to side effects and cravings; some meds mess with blood sugar and I can't take them any more.)

Best answer is to learn to read the label before you buy. They put a lot of that stuff in there to "bulk up" the pill for some things--it'd be so small you'd have trouble handling it elsewise.

Cellulose is an indigestable carb, unless you're a cow in which case it works just fine (and probably causes an insulin release).

Hello,

there are some points the pharmacist told me about :
1- potato strach has no impact in blood sugar level (that is also said in Atkins.com glossary - click here (http://atkins.com/global/glossary/glossary.r.html) -quote: "Resistant starch does not impact Blood sugar levels"
2- he says that these straches are used to help in dissolving the pill
3- he also mentioned that this strach ratio is very small, it doesn't reach 1g and it wouldn't affect at all
