I think this is ok, but limit yourself to just 1 or at most 2 drinks to avoid doing any real damage.

First, drinking is never unavoidable.
Second, no drinking during induction.
Third, vodka and coke?? Yukky!! (just opinion here)

NO alcohol allowed in induction whatsoever, no exceptions. The reason is that alcohol is used as fuel for your body even before carbs are, and they will stall weight loss. Alcohol in moderation later on in atkins is ok, but it can still stall you.
BTW if following atkins by the book, you can never have diet coke because of the aspartame, and the caffiene (you can reintroduce some caffiene after induction). However everybody has different reactions to aspartame, so YMMV with that. Also diet coke contains citric acid which is another known staller for many people.

If you know you are going to drink alcohol, then diet coke and vodka is one of the better ones. The big problem is that while on induction, you will be more sensitive to the affects of the alcohol, so limit your intake and avoid the bar food.

it is much easier to fall off your diet plan when you drink.

EWW Atleast make it rum if your gonna "cheat" yes drinking throws you off and you have to 'start over" again!

I am in the same situation as you, except it's Saturday night. We are supposed to be going to this V-day party to hear some DJ friends play and I know I will be tempted for a Miller Lite or two, or three. BUT......I'll have my water bottle on hand and not give into the temptations of alchohol. I know first hand that I will gain back the couple pounds I've worked to get off this week just by indulging in a couple drinks. Meh....
Good luck to ya.

Be careful if you're drinking in public for the first time since starting with this WOE!!! Seriously. You will feel the effects of the alcohol much faster and stronger than before.

Alcohol is a big no-no during induction. Do you really want to cheat yourself out of a clean induction? I'm betting not. Are you willing to give up a pound or 2 lost or even more for those drinks?
After induction alcohol is ok but should be very limited. I love a diet vanilla coke and vodka. But I wouldn't bother if I was on induction :)

Hey, I happen to like vodka and diet coke (esp. smirnoff raspberry vodka - no, it doesn't have added sugars - only flavored rums do)
I would try and avoid it during Induction, but if you absolutely can't this is a good route to go - just don't expect to lose anything drastic tomorrow, k?
(and avoid the cheesey poofs)

Actually, don't make it rum. Hard alcohols (NOT the sweet creamy dessert stuff) don't contain carbs. Spiced rum does contain carbs. It isn't the best choice.
A drink or 2 is o.k., especially if you really want it. Like Laur said, just don't expect to loose a lot the next day or 2. To help the next morning, i'd suggest doing some cardio to get rid of any remaining alcohol, and jump start your metabolism (which I think alcohol slows down.)
According to Atkins, alcohol does NOT throw you out of ketosis. Your body simply burns the alcohol before any other energy source. Once the alcohol is all burned off, you are still in ketosis and will burn fat.

AWWWWWWWW come on-
Let her have a drink!
Second thought- Maybe that's my problem - just that 1 drink here + there
you probably shouldn't while on induction, but if you must vodka and soda or light rum and diet would be a better mix. i'm a bartender...trust me.

Oh! Now that one sounds good! Are you sure the flavoured vodka doesn't have carbs? (or if it does, how much?)

No carbs in flavoured Vodka or any hard alcohol except spiced rum.

If you can't go two weeks without a drink, you might want to think about the possibility that you have a drinking problem.
That being said, if you want to check the carb counts of your favorite drinks, check out http://www.drinksmixer.com

When I'm out at a bar and want to keep myself from drinking alcohol, I order a club soda with a few wedges of lime. It's fizzy and the lime gives it a little kick. You fool yourself into thinking it's a cocktail. Works like a charm.

The last time I had a Vodka I was so wasted so quickly it was a good job I was in a "safe" place when I drank it. What it taught me was if I plan to drink - which happens rarely - I will never do it in public.

If you want a clean induction, no alcohol. If you don't care then that's a safe choice. As everyone else has said, your body will burn it first so you are not going to loose any weight.
If you do drink, be CAREFUL. It will hit you harder and faster than you can imagine. When I drink, I make sure that I also have water to sip on so I'm not carelessly sipping on alcohol to quench my thirst. That way I end up drinking more water than alcohol - I'm ALWAYS thirsty. Water also helps to flush it out of your system and prevent you from becoming dehydrated (alcohol really dehydrates you). Make sure that you've eaten, and if you want to nibble on something, look for safe choices - stay away from the bar food. It's easier to cheat when you are a little lubed up.
The safest choice of course is to not drink, but I'm assuming you are a grown-up and can make your own decision on this.
