I understand that us atkiners' are allowed to eat jello with wipped cream..but are we allowed to eat it in the induction stage?? I was about to eat some strawberry jello with whipped cream, when i realized 'hey there is alittle sugar in this...im not supposed to eat any suger during these 2 weeks'... So it must be a very obvious answer. But I need others to confirm it cant be eaten just yet. :)

The jello should be sugar free - not just any old jello. Also so go easy on the cream. No more than 3 tablespoons a day in induction.

Dr Atkins says you may eat sugar free jello in induction. Many people here think it is a good idea to try and get rid of your sweet tooth during induction however.

Yeah, I thought as much. Unfortunly I hadnt thought about it till i bought the jello, and its not suger free. :/ So looks like i will enjoy it in an other week. :) Cause i definatly want to get rid of my sweet tooth!
Thankx

I dont know what the rule is on it but some people do have it on induction. I chose not to. I wanted my induction to be as "clean and by the book as possible". I wanted to start off on the right foot. I think I remember some people saying it caused them a stall. I would guess you will get mixed responses to this question. In the end you will have to make your own decision. Welcome to the site. You are at the right place for support and help.

The rule is NO Jello on Induction.

Here's the Acceptable Foods List (http://atkins.com/Archive/2001/12/15-464579.html) for induction.

Best wishes and HAPPY LCing!

Which book do you have? I do not recall that from mine.

I followed the INDUCTION FOODS LIST only.

chmerasfyr, here's part 2 of my private message....your message box was too full to send so I'll just put it here.

My prob. I think is that I do aerobics at 6pm at night and not home til 7 and that's when I eat dinner, though I don't eat much. Weekends are kind of killers for me too, I tend to want to snack but I'm getting better. I wish I could exercise as much as you do cause I enjoy it but I have a 2 year old that I need to spend time with at night too....there's just not enough time in a day!

My body is also weird in that I won't lose for AWHILE and then all the sudden I'll just drop weight like mad. Plus I had a miscarriage the end of Nov. & had a bout of emotional eating.

I would LOVE to see 120 again but I'm realistically hoping for 130 by summertime.

If following atkins "by the book", then no you can never have sugar free Jello. It contains aspartame, and it is not allowed. However you can make your own that tastes just as good or better, using splenda instead. There are many different recipes floating around here.

That said the use of aspartame is a YMMV type of thing, many use it and are fine.

I'm sorry but in the 1999 edition of Atkins book published in the UK, which is the one I used for my induction, he says that you can have sugar free jelly (Am jello). (He also says you can't have sugar alcohols!) I ate sugar free jelly right through induction and lost loads of weight as do most people. I have no issues with aspartame by the way

I also have the 2003 book somewhere but I'm decorating at the moment and can't put my hand on it right now.

I seem to remember my version of the book saying that sf jello with heavy whipping cream (made at home with splenda) was okay for Induction. I can't remember if I had it or not, tho. I do occasionally have it now. In Canada (not sure where you're from) Juicy Gels are individual containers of ready-made single servings of Jello and it's made with Splenda

Dr. A doesn't say that you CAN'T have aspartame but that it could cause cravings and some discussion about side effects (ie carcinogenic??). He recommends Splenda but doesn't say you can't use anything else.

Surprised nobody's said this: EVEN AFTER INDUCTION, DON'T TOUCH THAT FULL-SUGAR JELLO!!!! It could kick you out of ketosis, set off cravings with a vengeance and basically derail you. Donate it to the food bank or give it to a friend and buy yourself a package of sugar free jello when you decide to have it.

I think it's because no one NOTICED that she said it is NOT sugar free, because that's so far OUT THERE that no one would expect it.
