I love love love Carbolite. I love their bake mix (zero carb and low carb), shakes, swiss mocha cappucino mix etc. They taste entirely too good to be true. Problems with them? Most of their products are extremely low in carbs and I just have trouble believing how good they are w/o carbs.

Again, use the Hidden Carb Counter.

I love this product too!! Have you had the frozen yogurt? Delicious.
On the listings for the candy bars, it says it has trace amounts of carbs. The one thing I learned to be careful of is this: the serving size in 2 pieces (for the candy bars), but there are 7 servings per bar. so there are over 3 carbs per bar. I haven't tried any of the other products so I don't know about them.

Are you using the carb counter or the Hidden carb counter? The Hidden counter is on the Low Carb Tools page but it is below the carb counter link. It requires that you fill in the nutritional data on the packaging to check for hidden carbs; the carb counter on the other hand requires you type in the name of what you're looking for.

Keep in mind, also, that the USDA (US Department of Agriculture) database is behind the Carb Count, or 6000 items from the USDA database, that is. If it's not in the USDA database it's not going to show up on the Carb Counter. Atkins and Carbolite products are not in the USDA database, just like they're not in the paperback carb counters, etc.
Like many commercial products (there's a lot more than 6000 individual products out there in the world), you'll have to read the label, both the Nutrition Label and the Ingredient List, and then check the counts .... using the Hidden Carb Calculator or just a pencil and paper ... yourself.
Hope this helps clarify things?

Hi Essjay,
I also like the Carbolite candy bars. They do state that there are more carbs than stated. They said, "Maltitol, a low digestible carbohydrate has been omitted from the total carbohydrate content as it can only convert to a negligible amount of glucose in the body. The amount of maltitol accounts for approximately 39% of the caloric value of the bar."
I used the hidden carb calculator and the 39% they omitted in the total count is what showed up in the hidden carbs.

How many carbs come up in the bars? I don't have any right now, otherwise I'd check myself. I was having 2 pieces (2 squares) every few nights but then I ate a whole bar one night and stopped buying them.

Hi essjay,
I think about 19 a bar. I'm really not sure. I didn't keep the stats and I don't have a Carbolite bar to check it again.
Another way to test whether those bars stop fat burning is to check it through your ketosis sticks.
Whenever I did eat those bars I usually eat the whole bar. They are really good. The only problem is they give me gas. :D

Just a quick questions about Carborite Crispy Caramel bar which is made by Carbolite. I bought some for the first time the other day and was so excited to try them. The bar I tried is only 1.1oz and is a single serving bar. It was absolutely delicious. Here's the problem within about 2 hours of eating "one" candy bar, I had to run to the bathroom. I read on the label that excessive consumption could cause a laxative effect, but I was really shocked when I had an extreme laxative effect from only one single serve bar. Needless to say I was at work and quite embarrased. Can anyone help me with this? Has this happened to anyone else? I'm scared to eat anymore and i'm having chocolate cravings and want to stay on the diet.
Any advise is appreciated! Thanks

It happens to lots of people. It means you are sensitive to that particular sugar alcohol, and possibly several others.
There's tons of posts here about the different candies and chocolates (all with sugar alcohols of some kind or another). Have a cruise through some of those, and check out the Truth About Low Carb Sweeteners article over on the right of your screen under Quick Links.
