mea culpa - Nobody's fault but my own.

I fell off the wagon, and then it ran up over me.

I was down 130 pounds this last summer. And then I got married, and gained an instant family of two step daughters 6 & 13. But I have also gained 21 pounds back.

My beautiful bride can really cook :) That and the holidays kicked me up 21 pounds. I lost a couple of notches in the belt, but still in the same clothes.

While my wife tells me she likes me big, she is sensitive to my low carb requirements. SO she just started studying some low carb cookbooks, and has created some really awesome dishes. She is not serving potatos, even though she did serve pasta the other day. However, she puts a variety on the table where I can just pick what I need.

The trouble is my will power to stop sampling the pasta, and the treats that are in the house for the kids. I was alone in the house before getting married, so now I can relate to those of you that have to keep all the goodies in the pantry.

I must gain control of the reins soon before my weigh gets out of control again.

It was depressing to have to change my Profile & signature numbers !

Just wanted to tell someone.

Well, you fell down....but you're doing the right thing by picking yourself up and moving on! We have no where to go but forward. And how wonderful that your new wife is so supportive of your WOE! Gaining an instant family can be a huge adjustment. But, you'll get your equilibrium back eventually, don't worry! You can do this!

Have your wife make a special part of the kitchen (a particular cupboard) for the kid's treats. Then don't go in there. Tell your wife and new daughters to help by reminding you that you don't want the pasta when you try to reach for it at dinner.

Your new wife and daughters will be far happier to have you around for a long time, healthy & fit, than to watch you continue to gain and get unhealthy.

But, having said that, it happens to the best of us, just climb back on the horse. Go cold turkey on the "extras" and you'll be back to the lower notches on your belt in no time!
