Hi,

I have read some posts here about hair loss and low carbing.

Does everyones hair fall out on this way of eating?

NO. ;)

Hair loss is is symptom of bodily stress, which happens on any weight loss method there is.

Not at all!

If you take a look in my gallery (click the gallery link at the bottom of my post) you will see that my hair certainly did not fall out at all while doing Adkins and I have now lost 93 pounds in 10 months.

My hair is several inches past the bottom of my butt now and has grown quite a bit since I started low carbing back last April....I was worried it would fall out when I read some posts like that too, but it hasn't at all....in fact, I have gotten more compliments on my hair now than ever.

My hair falls at the start of Autumn and also in Spring. I noticed it when ever I did any drastic change in diet.

If your hair is falling out, you should consider having your adrenal, pituitary and hypothalmus functions evaluated by an endocrinologist. These glands are primary in controlling the body's levels of hormones and an imbalance can definitely cause hair loss.

That is correct: ANY sudden weight loss can result in hair loss about 2-4 months after the loss. And the low carbing usually results in better hair and nail condition.

NO...I have beautiful hair and sure would not be on Atkins if I thought I would lose it....My sister, and I have never lost hair due to this way of eating....It must be something else causing the loss of hair...

Thank you all for your replies.

My hair is not falling out, i wanted your opinions because i read it somewhere that it will fall out on low carb, i'll keep my fingers crossed.

Can you give me your opinions on chicken sausages please? i can't find turkey sausages so i bought chicken ones, one sausage has 55klc, 3.9g protein, 3.6 fat and 1.9 carbs of which sugar 0.99, are these ok on induction instead of turkey sausages? Does turkey sausages have no sugar?

Thank you all,

By hair has grown since I began low carbing. If you have ever been pregnant, that is how my hair is growing. Unless my hair is dirty most days have been good hair days.

I have experiencing this problem myself and went to a dermatologist. She did several thyroid test, hormone test, etc and finally attributed it to heriditary. I don't remember any of my family members, other than my two grandfather's that had thinning of the hair. I have stepped up my biotin, saw palmeto and have bought Rogain. It doesn't seem to be as bad, even though the dermatologist said that none of these will help, to me I don't have to work as hard to rearrange my hair. STill have to, don't get me wrong, just not as bad, so I feel that it is helping.

My hair thined at about the 6 month mark but now is thicker than ever. My hair is quite fine so the difference is really noticeable. I think it is due to healthy eating and vitamins.
Chicken and turkey sausages are interchangable but you have to check the package on iether one. Often any sausage will have some sugar. Read the label and look for hidden carbs too. I haven't found that butchers now what is in the sausage, unless you go to a speciality shop.

I don't think it is this plan alone. All diet plans will cause some people to lose hair. The last time I LC, I had a lot falling out. This time, I haven't really noticed that much

Thank you all so much for your replies,

I'm not sure if it is my imagination or not but i can see a big difference in my hair and i've only been on low carb two weeks, is it possible for your hair to shine more in such a short time?
