I know this is a Low- Carb site. But does any one know about doing a low calorie diet? Is it possible to do some sort of low calorie diet and lose weight? What is it exactly? what kinds of foods? :q: :p

I find that just by low carbing........my calories have decreased immensely. I'm sure that b4 I started LCing....my caloric intake had to be well over 2,000 per day. Since LCing, I don't think i've hit over 1600 calories a day. And that was on a day where I had pigged out on pepperoni and cheese.......lol.

Regardless of what diet, or what general type of diet, one chooses to follow to lose weight, ultimately it comes down to taking in fewer calories than you burn. There is some evidence that there is a metabolic advantage to low carb, so that you can eat several hundred more calories than you can when following a different WOE, like low fat for example, and still lose weight.

It seems that many of us start to really pay attention to calories AND carbs as we get closer to goal or our weight loss slows down. I don't know how many of would call our WOE low calorie, but it is pretty certain to be lower calorie than we were eating when we were putting on weight, or when we were maintaining a higher weight.

Some of that is simply because at lower weights, we burn fewer calories--our BMR goes down. It takes energy (calories) to carry around 50 or 100 or more extra pounds. Heck, it takes calories to carry around 10 extra pounds. If we work out, and build muscle, we can eat more calories even if we weigh less, so this is less of a factor for people who have developed a higher muscle mass.

:thup:Thanx everyone! I'll go check out that web site. Its funny cuase when i first got started with this change of how i eat i started out telling my self i wont worry a thing about calories or carbs more or less, but know after seeing improvment and not wanting to go back, hehe i find i am giving them a second thought!
