It has been "common understanding" that black people are often
heavier than white people for the same height and volume. (The
word is "dense" but .. well... you know .. ).
Anyway I wonder if ther are any general differences in BMR
etc?
Esp considering warmer climates etc..

Covert Bailey says when his lab calculates lean body mass
that they have to adjust a few points for ethnic background.
Blacks tend to have denser bones, so their BMI should be
brought up a shade to compare to whites on the average (for
the same amount of muscle and fat, there's a few pounds/kilos
more for denser bones).
Of course, this is iffy when applied to any particular
individual. Kermit

Try to get the Health issue of EBONY this year when it comes
out. As far as races go, Hispanics are at the top of obesity
percentages, followed closely by Blacks. It has been shown
that Caucasians burn about 100 more calories a day than Blacks
and that obesity is especially high with Black females, with
the average dress size for them being a 20.

Excuse me ART-TARD, but my source game from an African
American magazine, and no, we are not all the same
biologically. Is your hair kinky? Is it brown (I am assuming
you are white)? Show me yor sources and I will shut up.

Is Ebony a peer-reviewed medical journal? I bet it has more
pictures than words.

I worked as a proofreader years ago. Many of those
peer-reviewed medical journals seemed to have more pictures
(tables, illustrations, images) than words.

Tables are generally just text formatted into rows and
columns.
And I bet that most of the pictures there are just plots of
numerical data.
Now I have noticed photographs of authors and such, but they
tend to be wee avatar-sized things somewhere in the
attributions at the end.

Back when I spent much time on such, it was a lot of studies
on pharmacokinetics, control theory, math, etc. There might
have been a few pictures, but it was more likely to have
equations between the text.
