I'm writing this letter to ask the good people of this for
your help.

My wife's birthday is soon approaching and I would like to
give her the type of birthday that she deserves. This year has
been a rough year for us and I think that she's deserving of
some special presents for her birthday.

In May of 2003 my wife underwent gastric bypass surgery. She
did this because she has diabetes and her blood sugars were
out of control (in the upper 200's). She had tried to get them
under control herself and was also on two different
medications to help control them but it seemed as though
nothing was helping. We had heard that people that had gastric
bypass surgery were seeing amazing changes in their blood
sugar levels almost immediately. It was a very big decision to
undergo the surgery. My wife told me that if all she needed to
do was to lose weight than she probably would not have had the
surgery, but with what was happening with her diabetes she
felt that she should have it before it was too late.

The surgery went fine and my wifes blood sugar levels went
down almost immediately. It's quite amazing, my wife has
basically not had a reading above 100 since the sugery. In
January of this year we found out that we were pregnant. We
were quite excited about the news, but also aprehensive
because my wife was also only 8 months out from having her
surgery and at the time they recommended that you wait at
least a year before getting pregnant.

All seemed to be going well with the pregnancy until around
June. My wife started having abdominal pains that were serious
enough that we went to the hospital when she had them. The
doctors were convinced that it was her gallbladder and it
needed to come out but did not want to do surgery while my
wife was pregnant (understandably). Well, after several weeks
of going back and for to the hospital the doctors finally
decided that the gallbladder had to come out. They took my
wife in for surgery to have her gallbladder removed and
afterwards I found out that they also found 2 litres of fluid
in her stomach, that they felt was related to the gallbladder
problems, that they drained off. My wife felt better
immediately but, it wasn't to last.

Over the next couple of days her pains started coming back
just as bad as they had been originally. Our doctor was out of
town and the surgan was out of town. The people that filled in
for them that weekend were convinced that there was something
else wrong (no kidding!). They tried for most of a day trying
to find a hospital that would do major exploritory surgery on
my wife and have the ability to take care of a premature
infant. They couldn't find anyone so they decided it would be
best if they just went ahead and did the surgery at the
community hospital where we were at.

That surgery went fine as well. This surgan discovered a 3-4
inch section of my wife's intestines that had died and removed
it and reconnected her bowels up to a new part of the
intestines. He said the intestinal blockage was what was
causing the fluid backup. They put my wife in the IC unit for
observation for the rest of the night. Later that night my
wife went into labor while still recovering from the surgery.
The doctors made the decision to airlift my wife to a major
hospital near Chicago at this time so that they could take
care of both my wife and the baby.

While in flight to the hospital my wife almost died twice
and they thought they were going to have to do an emergancy
c-section to save both my wife and the baby. They were able
to get the labor under control. Over the next month and a
half that my wife spent in the hospital there were a few
more scares, but in the end everything ended well and my
wife went home and had the baby just 3 weeks early at our
local hospital.

The problem now is that with all of the medical bills and
having to travel back and forth to the hospital so much, we
are extremely strapped for cash and I have almost nothing to
be able to get her birthday presents.

Don't get the wrong idea, I'm not asking anyone for any money.
All I'm asking for is for people to check out the offers
below. For each one if enough people sign up and complete just
one offer I'll be able to get my wife some nice gifts for her
birthday. The offers are things like trying out a 15-day trial
of blockbuster online or ancestry.com and such.

I appreciate everyone who is willing to help out in this
matter and since I do web design on the side, for everyone
that is a contributer to getting my wife a gift, I will do a
basic 3-4 page website for them at no cost.

Again, thank you so much for your help
