Has anyone tried this?

Excerpt from extendbarworks.com

"Low-Carb ExtendBar is not your typical low-carb snack!

Like many low-carb snacks, Low-Carb ExtendBar has a low glycemic index and only 2-3 net carbs. But that’s where the similarity ends.

Developed by Dr. Francine Kaufman, Head of the Center for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles and recent president of the American Diabetes Association, Low-Carb ExtendBar offers added benefits most other low-carb snacks can’t.
One of the key triggers of appetite – one that can sabotage even the most conscientious of eaters – is drops in blood sugar. This can happen after consuming a meal of simple carbohydrates, or even when eating foods with few total carbohydrates.

ExtendBar’s unique blend of protein, fat and carbohydrate – including uncooked cornstarch, a vital, low glycemic carbohydrate – converts to blood sugar so gradually, it helps prevent the drops in blood sugar that trigger appetite.

In fact, ExtendBar is the only snack clinically proven to help stabilize blood sugar for up to 9 hours. No other snack even comes close! "

Saw this in the latest Low Carb Luxery Magazine and wondered about taste.... If you use the link at the mag, they have a great deal with free shipping!

I'm skeptical, especially since maltitol is the second ingredient.

Still, I'm intrigued by the claims, and am considering ordering some. Between my husband and I we'd probably go through them.

One other thought- This is from their website-

If you are counting your carbs – whether it’s to help you manage your meal plan or determine if an adjustment to your insulin is appropriate – count only the carbs in ExtendBar that have a short term impact on blood sugar (faster acting, net carbs). The remaining carbs (slower acting) convert slowly and have minimal impact on blood sugar.

Italics are mine- they don't include the slower acting carbs in the net carb count- What am I missing?? I don't count sugar alcohols but that isn't all that's not counted... Carol

corn starch and maltitol syrup? I dont believe for a second that those arent going to shoot up your insulin levels.

Maltitol DOESN'T spike the blood sugar, but I still don't subtract it, since I believe except for fiber, carbs are carbs. Keeps me honest. ;)

There are different types of cornstarch, and some of them don't react like you would think. There again, they're IN there, so I would count them.

I have tried the chocolate and peanut, very good. The texture is like Rice Krispy treats. No after taste. I don't think it stalled me.
