I am wondering how many of you eat dreamifield's pasta without neg side effects? I really like it but am wondering if it's too good to be true?

Hi amdevilish,
I eat the stuff a couple of times a week and have had NO problem with it. I'm at the maintenance/but-will-take-a-couple-of-more-pounds-loss-if-it-happens stage. Have lost 2 lbs. in the last 6 - 8 weeks since I've started eating the Dreamfields.

I've had it here and there (probably about every 2-3 months, tops) and I don't think it's had a negative effect on my weightloss but I do think it's had a negative effect when it comes to my addictive behavior. The last time I made it was about 3-4 weeks ago. I made a tuna casserole and I just couldn't leave it alone. I kept going back to it and back to it, ate it even when I wasn't physically hungry and basically acted the way I did in the past with a 'trigger' food. I decided that I'm going to have to make smaller portions and very infrequently. At first I made 1-2 servings at a time and this last time I made 4 servings but that was a mistake.
I, too, am worried that it's "too good to be true" and that's why I make it so rarely. I don't have ketostix but I would be interested to hear about somebody who tested for ketosis (and had a positive result) before eating Dream fields and then testing right after, 1 hour after, 2, 3 - 6 hours after.... just to see what the result would be!

I use the pasta once a week. I have to admit, I usually make 2 servings of the Penne (1-1/2 cups dry). I cook it exactly 11 minutes and usually mix with some Carb Options cheddar cheese sauce or some other lc sauce. I've tested for ketosis before and intermittently after and it hasn't caused any change. I don't get cravings as others have described. I'll tell you though - when I made the 2 servings last night, I was quite full after only about half. This was a change.

I eat it often too myself, with no negative effects. As you know, everything in moderation is the key :) Good Luck on your journey and know I am there with you!

Love it! But I only eat it about once a month or so. Never have had any negative effects. I limit myself to one serving.

I had it twice over the holiday season. I lost a couple pounds over about 2 weeks after not losing weight for a while. However for me it was a trigger food as well....I had to use all the willpower I had not to binge both times. :o But then again, pasta has always been my weekness.

Thank you all for your replies - it was something I ate VERY rarely (I'm talking once or twice in 4 months!) but recently have felt like I need a little bit of a change up in what I am eating (for variety's sake!) and I really like this pasta compared to most other LC brands (I HATE SOY) To me, it tastes no different then regular pasta and that in itself was enough to make me go hrmmm....
I made a pot of spaghetti last night using the linguine dreamfield's pasta and ragu's carb options spaghetti sauce (why oh why can't prego make a LC sauce?) and divided it up into 10 servings (figuring 7g per serving isn't bad at all!) I had a portin of it and a small salad and I must admit - it was delish!!! It was a great change up! I will definitely have to keep extra careful not to go overboard but pasta was never my weakness I'm afraid potatoes were for me and they have yet to discover a LC potato  Thanks for the input guys - It is wonderful to have so many other LC'ers around for support!

I am a Type 1 Diabetic and found that in the short term my blood sugar did not raise (i.e. under 2 hours) but overnight, my blood sugar rose way, way too much. I tested this a few times with the same results. I also tried the Carbquik around the same time with zero short and long term negative results.
I personally don't trust the carb claims, but I do note that regular pasta has a low Gycemic Index rate, even though it has a high carb count...so I think that is how Dreamsfields came up with their low "effective carb count"
Best of Luck and will power!

amdevelish, just be careful with Dreamfields. I thought I read on another thread here that if you overcook (longer than the directions specify) the pasta or if you keep leftovers in the fridge, the carb controlling properties disappear and the pasta just becomes the same as regular pasta. With Dreamfields, I just cook up what I need, never want to have leftovers for the fridge, otherwise, I agree, it is delicious! Good luck on your LC journey!!!

I tried Dreamfields for the first time last week and was pleasantly surprised by the taste & texture. Unfortunately, I noticed both times I ate it (dinner and then leftovers the next day) that I had some....er.....gastrointestinal issues. Of course, I guess that's one way to lose some weight. I don't plan on making it a regular choice because of all the controversy surrounding it, but when I have a craving for pasta it will do the trick.

Hi omalleyc--I have the same problem each and every time that I eat Dreamfield's. I haven't seen anyone else post about it, so I thought it was just a weird reaction on my part. I think it tastes wonderful, too--but it's just not worth it to me to have to deal with the grumbles and groans afterwards. It's the same when I eat (most) sugar alcohols. Guess it could be a good thing (?) since it probably means that we're truly not digesting it, but I've pretty much stopped it altogether. Just too hard to deal with, later in the evening.

Try having about 1/2 a serving as a side dish. I cook 1/2 cup raw (max) and can barely get through it when I have salad and meat with it. I find it very tasty with lots of cheese on it. I NEVER  cook more than that at one time. Too tempting.

a few times a week. i have never had any problem with it. no gas, no constipation, no blood sugar spike, no crash afterwards, no weight gain or stall. i love the stuff. if it goes out of production like the doritos edge, i'll be pissed.

eggirl, are you a diabetic? Type 1 or 2? No blood sugar increase post 2 hours after eating (i.e. like 6 hours after)? Just comparing!

I've eaten it without problems. The only negative is it tastes TOO good sometimes, but my son (who rejects my "icky" diet food) takes care of any excess. :D I'm full for hours, unlike after regular pasta.

In Dana Carpender's, article someone posted a link to in another postings regarding dreamfields, she had varying results. One time it'll spike her glucose, another time it won't. Someone else noted a correlation between the glucose and cooking it with acidic sauces.
Kind of puzzling.
One time I had it and I was hungry again in a couple of hours even after I had a pretty good sized bowl of it with a spagetti sauce on top. So I've been a little suspicious of it.

I received my first package of Dreamfield's today and had it tonight for dinner. I only made one serving and had it with salad and steak, topped with grated cheese. I couldn't eat the whole serving so my daughter finished the rest and loved it. I'll post later if I have any tummy problems. The only thing that seems to bother me is soy and malitol. Other than that I don't usually have a problem. I hope to limit eating it anyways, everything in moderation. It's the best tasting LC pasta I ever had. :yum:

We have it about once every couple of weeks or so. It's delicious, but I never make more than 1/2 cup each, and we eat it all at dinner, no leftovers.
It does, however, go through me like grease through a goose.

Absolutely love the stuff. Best LC pasta out there! Unfortunately walmart hasn't carried it in over 2 months. Getting worried they're not making it anymore.
I too use 1/2 serving as a side dish usually just tossed with butter and minced garlic or with alittle alfredo sauce.

I too love the stuff....and eat it a couple of times a week as
a side dish. I only cook a small amount and mix it with butter and a little garlic and it is awesome.
