I lost 30 lbs on Atkins and have kept 25lbs off but couldn't continue to give up the fruit and milk. Also the leg cramps were so bad, even with calcium and potassium supplements, I couldn't stand it. Someone suggested I try South Beach, they said it was more what I want. Do the cramps come with the SB diet?

Hi!
I've been on SBD now for the past 7 months. While I did not have typical leg cramps, I did have alot of muscle and joint aches and pain. It seems to be gone now and I'm very grateful for this.
I did take and still do sometimes take, potassium and calcium which did help me.
Give it a shot and find out if it works better for you!! :agree: :D

Hi, I do a modified South Beach/Atkins WOL, my way. What I mean by this is, that I do eat fruit (in moderation) and milk (low fat) but do eat lower carbs than what is suggested in the SB book. It works for me and feel that part of finding a WOL is that you listen to your body and, if that means tweaking a few diets or 1 particular diet, then that's okay.
I would suggest you read up on the SB diet, just type it in a search engine and go from there!
Good luck with your decision!
:)
