According to this weeks Marketing Week, Coca-Cola have confirmed that they will NOT be moving forward with plans to launch C2, their mid-carb cola in the UK. Apparently is tested really well, but research showed that it would canabilize sales of Diet Coke, rather than bring in new customers. They also mentioned that it had faultered in the US, but that Coke had attempted to price it as premium products. Personally I think the coke companies were just cashing in on the whole LC thing and if they hadn't been greedy and priced it as a 'premium' product, then it might have been a reasonable success.

Who the heck wants coke with half the sugar in it? We already have diet coke for people who don't want the sugar.
This is a half brained idea by people who don't understand low carbing at all. I hope it flops.

If you're following a low-carb lifestyle, why on earth would you choose something that is kind of but not really lower in carbs when there are plenty of other choices available.

It seems to me they tried to produce something that was OK for everyone but turned out to be no use to anyone.

Did they really need to launch it to find out it wouldn't work.

Another bad idea for Coke that ranks with the Dasani disaster

:agree: thats true its not good for low-carbers,but i guess it might serve a purpose to people trying to be more 'healthy' with their carbs...at the end of the day tho uve got diet coke and regular coke..its just another moneyspinning idea theyve got :-( and you can guarantee its more expensive than the normal/diet variety

Yes, it has aspartame as sweetener, which is recommended against by Atkins and others. It is NOT strictly "forbidden", but its consumption is "discouraged".

I drink sf drinks with aspartame. I don't seem to have any problems with it. I make sure I use other sweeteners for everything else though.

I drink caffeine free diet coke too...I've had no problems. If we analyse all the ingredients in every low cal/carb drink we would all just drink water... god how dull life would be !!!!

It's all down to the individual...if it doesn't affect your weight loss, then drink and enjoy....
