My guests just have left. My Thanksgiving was ok, although portion-wize I went over - by a lot. I made the cranberry sauce with sweetener (for everyone not just me), and apple cake instead of pumpkin pie, also with sweetener and whole wheat pastry flour, and we had it with vanilla sauce and ice creme (again, sugar free, but not carb free!). So, I ended up making reasonable choices, I think, and a very healthy fun appetizer of only veggies (interestingly spiced tomato sauce over grilled eggplant slices) , and we had no regular potatoes of any kind, only sweet potatoes and yams. I will decide in a few days if I would do it differently. Certainly, if after or instead the appetizers there had been a large salad, I would have eaten less of the other stuff. On the other hand, we had only 2 visitors and I couldn't really not make any of the other things - so it would have made the menu even larger.
As is typically for me, I probably went over but not unreasonably - I wouldn't call it falling off, and I was very much aware (though that didn't diminish my enjoyment) when I ate something quite high in carbs such as the yams.

I was so nervous about *falling* off that I was very, very good! Probably had a better day yesterday than the day before! LOL I did have a low-carb beer (Aspen Edge, by Coors....not bad) and a glass of wine....a light Merlot. I'm making soup with the turkey broth (boiled it in the crock overnight) so I'll have plenty of *legal* soup this week. I also saved my weekly slice of high-fiber, whole-wheat, $3.00 a loaf (LOL) bread for today so I can have a turkey sandwich!
Happy day after! Anyone shopping?

Hmmmmmmm lets see..
You really dont' say fall off the wagon..that would hurt your diet and ego. I did wonderful the day before and thanksgiving day..Had a salad/turkey/passed up mom's awesome mashed taters/dressing..she was sweet and fixed some roasted veggies..them were good..I told myself I would allow myself a small slice of pie..well the small slice wasn't so small and had some cherry pie filling with whipcream/pineapple/nuts..I am sure it wasn't so low carb..lol..then of course my sugar rush kicked in and lets not say what else I ate..I figured it was only for one evening and back on the diet today..Did break down and had some pretzels after the long trip home..But ready to get back to healthy eating tommorrow..Ready to loose some more weight before Santa Claus comes..He wont' even recognize me...teehee..

I cooked my first Thanksgiving dinner. ;) I don't have family so I had a friend over to share the holiday with me and we had our dogs too.
I made turkey breast, stewed zucchini, asparagus in hollandaise sauce(big mistake), Uncle Bens long grain and wild rice (a bigger mistake) :yum: ....
there were no potatoes or pies...thank goodness!!
I had a big problem with that rice....its a food that I cannot have here as I have to eat it...all of it....so I was having bites of it during the afternoon and then had one normal size portion( about 1 cup) with my meal. Then I sent the rest home with my guest as I had to get it out of here and I cannot throw good food away. This was my biggest problem that day.
I did not gain as I'm in a bit of a stall now anyway. But that is another story for another thread.

We went to my mom's for Thanksgiving. I had string beans almondine, brocolli with olive oil and garlic and half a sweet potato (no turkey, I've a vegetarian). When mom asked me to try something I didn't want like mashed potatoes or her homemade cranberry sauce, I just said that I already tried it and it was delish.

I stayed on plan! I ate some green beans, turkey, and deviled eggs. For desert I had a half cup of sugar free fat free choclate pudding! :agree: :p

Amazingly, to myself, I didnt cheat... I stuck with dry turkey, a little ham, deviled eggs (were my savior), olives, a pickle spear and the pumpkin fluff I brought for myself.
Mom inlaw deligated me as the dessert server, so I had to take orders for 18 people... get the 5 differant pies onto plates with ice cream or homemade sugared whipped cream..and serve.

I think we did good. I cooked so we had LC stuffing, LC sweet pot, LC blueberry pie (it had reg. crust). Everyone else had all the regular foods, and deserts. I packed up the left overs and sent them home with family. If its not here I won't eat it. (Dr Phil's plan get it out of the house) We weigh on Wed so we won't know till then. But think it was ok.

I ate everything except the recipe cards!!! LOL I know I'm pitiful but you wanted honesty. But I'm back on track now and hopefully learned my lesson before Christmas Dinner arrives! Congrats to those of you who withstood temptation and to those of you in my shoes, may you loose doubly your average this week!
