i just visited the Laughing Cow products website and i came across the ingredients in their low fat cheese. it contains 1g of sugar too. so i guess Philidelphia fat free cheese is ok to eat, right? it also consists of 1g sugar.
so confused. what to do

I was just about to tell you that it might be called la vache qui rie! I would not get in phase 1 a cheese with 6 g carbs per 100 g. I just got mine out - which is the lowest fat cheese I am aware of in the US. It says 0 g carb per 28 g (1 oz), which may be up to about 3 g per 100 g (if it is less than 1 g they can say zero), it has 9 g protein per 28 g, and 3.5 g fat per 28 g. It has 70 calories/30 from fat per 28 g. In the US, I go up to 80/40 - all of this is per 28 g, so you have to recalculate. It looks like your cheese has more carbs and less fat than mine, but especially in phase 1 I would not go so high in carbs. On the other hand, if it is really so important for you, the official south Beach people say 2 servings of dairy (small portions!) are ok.
To me your cheese sounds like the kind they warn about where the fat has been replaced by carbohydrates, which you don't want. I would say though, that on the other hand fresh yoghurt will contain carbohydrates - from the milk sugar - and that is allowed.
I would look at the ingredients. If the ingredient list only has low fat milk listed, but no mentioning of sugar or high fructose corn sirup or starch or whatever else might have been added for the carbs, it may be ok. But what you don't want is added carbs - the milk sugar (lactose) that is naturally in soft cheese and yoghurt (but not in the hard cheese I am looking at) is ok. But if they replaced the fat with '
It is quite possible that la vache qui rie in your country is made of different components than laughing cow light here. So it is important to keep in mind that you don't want added carbs of any kind. and limit dairy to 2 servings a day (early on in South Beach they were completely forbidden).
Good luck!
