Having read about the connection between CVD and cancer and
Omega-3s, and having read that these 2 deseases have
experienced exponential growth since Omega-3 is removed from
our modern processed diet, I was wondering what the flax seed
consumption was 100 years ago. Can someone lead me to where I
can find this information?????
I have made some assumptions that calculate to over 7gms
omega-3 consumption per day from flax seed.
As well I tried to find RDAs on Omega-3. Is there any site on
the web that have RDA data? Finally one more question which
would be interesting to know, (especially that it is
recommended to reduce Omega-3's during chemo treatments for
cancer) is:
Do cancer cells have more Omega-3 in them than healthy cells?
You can read my article at:

What does a link to a dietary supplament product have to do
with the questions I asked? Did you not find my questions even
a bit interesting? And is it not interesting that useing
google to find data about flax seed consumption, or even flax
seed production, or RDA data for nutnutrients does does not
help? Strange.....just like your reply is. Hopefully someone
out there reading this will take these questions seriously
like all questions deserve, and will be kind enough to spend
their time more positivelly than you did. regards andrew

Well . . .maybe -- there are a few studies that suggest that
alpha linolenic acid found in flax, canola and many other
vegetable sources is associated with an increased risk of
prostate cancer.
It is probably too early to know about this, but I won't be
giving up my spinach any time soon, although mature men may
wish to go easy on the canola and flax until more data is
accumulated.

Ground flax seed has more than fatty acids. The seed would
have antioxidants and numerous phytochemicals. I'd avoid the
refined oils even the supplement grade ones.
