Hi
I have recently started low carbing again. The last time I did Atkins I started losing a lot of hair which the Dr. prescribed vitamins for. I have a book at home that says that too much vitamin A can cause hair loss.Vitamin A is found in things like liver, butter, egg yolks, cottage cheese ricotta cheese, and whole milk.

Does anyone know anything about this or have any thoughts on this?

I don't think it's very easy to get too much vitamin A from your diet. Are you taking vitamins? If so, make sure if the vitamin A is a fairly low dosage, unless it is in the form of pro-vitamin A (beta carotene), which is the precurser to vitamin A and is converted in the body when needed.

I have never heard of vitamin A using hair loss, though. Anyone else?

THere was a post from a member on the health boards, I believe, that had an abnormal amount of vitamin a. It caused her hair to fall out among other things. Vitamin A is stored in the body and you should get plenty from a balanced, low carb, diet. I, personally, wouldn't take it unless specified by my doctor.
