Hi everyone its been a long time since I was here, I lost 2 stone juring the year and slipped back into my old ways, :help: you know beer, beer and more beer!! oh and lets not forget the late night sandwich's but I have only gained 4lbs when I say only its because I got off lightly after the damage i done, so who's out there for a christmas challange, I still believe I will fit into that little black dress thats going mouldy in my wardrobe :wave:

Hi Glenellen!
Yeah, I'd be very interested in doing a christmas challange with you! I too have a load of clothes, including a little black number that I'm just dying to get back into. I've been low carbing for the last few months now and although I lost 13lbs during induction the scales has only dropped 1lb since.
But I suppose the good thing is that the tape measure is showing great results and I am steadly losing inches! :hyper:
I have tried a few variations to try and get the scales moving, like raising my fat intake, raising my carb intake but nothing has seemed to work.
I think the next thing I'll try is lowing my calorie intake. :daze:
Anyway, as I said, I'd be very interested in the challange, so let me know what you had in mind! :agree:

Hi nev05 and welcome there does'nt seem to be a rush of people but what the hell, there's time yet! I too lost 13lbs the first 2 weeks, and even if your weight,(on the scales) have not moved, your inches have, so your doing somthing right, :thup: so maybe we should weigh-in or measure once a week and a chat in between, im going back on induction, well if you call it induction because im still going to have my glass of wine or 4, and in the mean time I hope a few other people join us :agree:

Hi Glenellen, Nev05.
Yeah, Myself and my girlfriend would be very interested in doing a christmas challange with you. I've been on atkins since the last week in June and am down 2 stone 1 pound. The last month / 6 weeks have been very slow as have been celebrating different things but I think a Christmas challenge would be great. This sounds great hopefully it will give me the Kickstart i need/want.

Hi, david you done a great job with the weight loss, :thup: but I think we all need someone to answer to, or we can easily fall of the wagon, Oh! I do know what its like with them party's, :nono: I can see it on my hips, so what better way then a challange to get going, :yay: Its good to have you aboard is your girlfriend on the atkins too.

Yes and No. She hasn't been converted like me but has cut out most carbs. She still takes some fruit like an orange and a yogurt most days but nothing else really apart from that. It makes it a lot easier with her keeping low carb cause there is very little in the apartment to tease.

Hi Glenellen,good to talk to you again .I have now been lcing for just over 1 year now ,and have lost about 50lbs .I have given myself 2 years to get to my goal, and I realy do love a challenge, so count me in.I would love to lose 12lbs by christmass.Let me know what day we should all weigh in.

Tue, Oct-19-04, 15:53
welcome all, and nice to have you aboard carmel, what can I say but WOW 50lbs! after such a long time away from LCing im finding it hard to get back into it, but we all need a push. Hi dolles98 you say your the same weight for four weeks, are you losing any inch's? and david I do understand about the fruit or even a yogurt, I do crave for something simple in the mornings but no pain no gain, I think thursday is a good day to weigh in, it leaves the weekend free for any mishaps, and only a few days to makeup for it, so we will have to be careful, so lets start with a weight in on thursday, and there after our weight loss, and good luck to everyone

Hey Guys,
count me in too. My goal is to loose 7 kg by X-Mas. I've been stuck for about 2 weeks now (lost during the week, then up again during the weekend ;-(
but its going down again slowly, so I might just make it. Thursday sounds fine for the weigh in.
what about little rewards for weight lost?? I'm also in the Sexy X-Mas Chick Challenge, and for every 5 pounds lost we get to buy sexy undies ;-)
Any suggestions what we might reward ourselves with??
Gagalina
dolles98
Wed, Oct-20-04, 15:42
A reward sounds good but not the sexy undies. I don't think they'd look too good on davidm20.
Gagalina
Thu, Oct-21-04, 07:25
ok, maybe not sexy undies then ;-)
It should be something not too expensive that is not normally done or bought and is supposed to make us feel good since we lost something...
new socks?? sure to look good on either male or female ;-)
new shoes, clothes, movie, CD, haircut, massage, night out, kitchen appliance, bubble bath....
I dunno, come on people, any other idea's??
Since its Thursday, as suggested by glenellen, its weight in time:
76.3 kg (168.2)
I've set myself loads of little minigoals to keep me in track. So for me its 1.5 kg every two weeks. I didnt get it in the last two weeks, but I had two bad weekends, so not too dissapointed and I revised my goals to reflect this.
Anyway, how is everybody else doing??

Today I'm 178lbs and I hope to lose about 3lbs every 2weeks until christmas. I'd love to get something new for my christmas party on 10th Dec but I need to cut out the drink until then, only there seems to be something on every weekend. That's always my story!!!

Hi everyone, I would be happy with losing a stone by christmas, Im 201 lbs again!! so I have to work really hard, Im tring to do some exercises but due to a car accident some months ago im finding it very diffucult, so I will have to lock myself in and cut all ties with my family so there will be no excuse for partying, but thats easier said then done, I like the idea of a reward, but what I ask myself !

Sat, Oct-23-04, 07:40
Hi All,
As a diabetic, my 'reward' is the lower numbers on my blood glucose meter :). My weight has kind of stalled lately - the same 2lbs goes on and off like a yo-yo and the inches that I measure stay the same (maybe my fingers or ankles have slimmed down more, but who gives a d*** about them).
Despite dropping about 4 dress sizes, I am reluctant to spend much on clothes until I 'settle' a bit more.
I think I'll treat myself to some personal care products - like expensive talc, the kind you never buy - or perhaps push the boat out and get a jacuzzi gadget for the bath. If I win the lotto, I'll buy the real thing!

Hi lads and ladies, im only down 1lb, Im so disapointed with my-self :cry: but im here to fight another day, I do hope you all done better then me, I dont know why im finding it diffacult, I never did before, if anything I should be used to it, maybe its something to do with frame of mind I will just have to sit down and have a good think, because I would lose all hope if I were to lose only 1lb a week. I have so much weight to lose and at 1lb a week I would be drawing my bloody pension before I reach my goal.

Hi Glenellen -
A Christmas Challenge sounds great! Did you guys aleady start it? If not, I would love to join in - be great to give me something to shoot for. I just started low carb again today (was on a very long cheat..like 8 months..lol).
Keep your chin up Glenellen - some weeks will be better than others. The first time I did lowcarb (did it for 2 years) some weeks I would drop 4 lbs then the next the scale would barely budge.. so just take it one day at a time. And I hear you loud and clear on being disappointed with yourself.. I was soooo close to my goal and because of my cheat, I gained it all back (and then some)...
But be happy that you lost weight - thats great :) A pound lost is better than tighter pants ;) (And I know ALL about that...lol)

Hi,
Krazzybird to answer your question we had our first weigh in on thurs 21 Oct, but I don't see any problem with you joining one week in.
Glenellen, a pound is a pound. I stayed the same this week, but I shouldn't have expected anything. Was out Thursday, Played Cards Friday, Out Saturday for meal and then out most of the day Sunday, so thinking about it I was dam luck to stay the same. Quiet one this weekend(hopefully).
Good Luck Everyone

Dave -
Thanks for letting me join the challenge a week in! :) Do we just post here what our goal is and what our weekly progress is?
If so, I would like to be at 175 by Christmas, so that is 14 lbs (as of today) I would like to lose.
See you all next week! ;)

I would love to lose anything by christmas!!!,so I think I will settle for whatever my body wants to let go of itself .As a reward to myself I am going to the U.S.A in Feb. to drive around in a moterhome or R.V. as they call them in the U.S.A. for a whole month .That I think is reward enough don't you think.P.S. sorry If I sound so smug but honestly I am just sooo excited about the trip.

Hey everybody,
how's the loosing going ;-)
I forgot to weigh in on thursday, and then i was sick, so today my weight is 75.6, so I only lost about 2 pounds, but still really happy with that, I havent weight 75 for ages, but its a weight that I can remember weighing. If I wanna keep with my little goals, I should be 74.8 by thursday, lets see if i can do that... I'll just have to try to be really really good ;-)
Hi Krazzybird, welcome to the challenge!!
Hey Carmel, your trip around the us in a rv sounds great, I'm still thinking about what my reward will be at the end, at the moment I'm thinking about a tatoo or maybe a piercing, but not really sure. I wanted another tatoo for ages, possibly on my back, but I thought that if i get it and then loose some weight, that it might get a bit distorted ;-)
I got over my flu alright, I think it might have only been a cold though ;-)

Hey everybody!!
I went down one hole on my belt today ;-) and its quite comfortable.
Not sure how that is working since i put on a bit in weight???
So that means its two holes since I started which would roughly be about 2 inches or so of loss around the waist?? I really should have measured before I started, and I keep meaning to do it, but havent done so yet. Does anybody here measure??
Gagalina
dolles98
Wed, Nov-03-04, 14:51
Yeah, we've been measuring since we started. My waist has gone down 2.5 inches but 4 holes on my belt(which are an inch apart, cant figure that one).
Had to get extra holes put in my belt which was a first.
Its great to see the sizes coming down even if the weight is not
coming down.

Wed, Nov-03-04, 16:46
I measured myself yesterday and I have now lost 7" from my waist and 2.5" off my right thigh in the past 12 months.It realy does pay to measure your body from time to time as you can have inch loss even if it seems to take a while for the scales to catch up!!.

Hey everybody,
I suppose its weigh in time. I'm at 76 kg (put on 700g since saturday, havent got a clue how that works since I havent been cheating at all), which means i lost a mere 300 g in the last two weeks and i didn't meet my target of 74.8 kg by today. I thought targets were a good thing, but it doesnt seem to work for me. I missed my target from 2 weeks ago by 800 g, so I'm not even at the target from two weeks ago. I think i might just get rid of the targets with dates, and just let the dates happen as the do??
Just in case i change my sig, here are my targets that i was rooting for:
Start 07.10.04 => 77.1 kg (170)
Mini-Goal 21.10.04 => 75.5 kg (166.4) missed by 800g 76.3 (168.2)
Mini-Goal 04.11.04 => 74 kg (163.1) revised 74.8 (164.9) missed by 1.2 kg
Mini-Goal 18.11.04 => 72.5 kg (159.8) revised 73.3 (161.6)
Mini-Goal 02.12.04 => 71 kg (156.5) revised 71.8 (158.3)
Mini-Goal 16.12.04 => 70 kg (154.3) revised 70.8 (156.1)
Christmas Goal: => 70 kg (154.3)
Since I had to tighten the belt, i think I'll do some measuring tomorrow morning and then start doing it regularily. What areas do you measure??
Waist (where the belly button is)?
Hips (widest part of the hips)?
What part of the thigh do you measure? also the widest part?
Where else would you measure??

Hi everyone, you are all doing so well, :thup: I am down a pound, I am lucky because I consumed a lot of carbs so a pound is really really good, I have a party to go to next week, so I am going to work really hard this week again!!(god loves a trier) maybe I need that extra bit of push, because im finding it really diffucult to get back into LC again and coming up to the party season well im panicing :cry. so everyone keep up the good work and I will be back next week with 4lbs down

I didn't loose anything this week, I'm very disheartened at the moment so I did what most people would like to do and got plastered and spent the last two days over-dosing on carbs!!! I'm disgusted with myself now as I've probably undone a months work overnight :help:
I'm getting back on the wagon tomorrow and will be going to the gym at lunchtime - I do 2 or 3 days a week (more like I TRY to). I've losts of stuff on at weekends between now and Christmas so my goal will be to maintain what I'm at and not go backwards like I usually do at this time of year. It's not what you'd call optimistic but I reckon once I get over the next few weeks I'll be able to give up the booze and start going down again

Hello everyone!
Glenellen suggested that I drop by. I hope you don't mind as I am not Irish. I could really use a challenge. I didn't have access to the internet for a couple of months and I strayed a bit without the support. I gained 2 pounds during that time. I am back on track again and would like to join your challenge.
I weighed in at 192 this morning and would like to lose 12 by Christmas.
Glenellen: I finally recieved your PM. Not sure if you got mine but you can find me in my journal or drop me an email.

Hey all,
I fell of the wagen at the weekend ;-(
it started with some innocent winegums on saturday night, and ended with biscuits, pizza, icream, toblerone, more winegums, coke, crips and some more cookies last night. I enjoyed most of it, bar the sickly sweet taste of the winegums after a few of them, but back this morning full on!!! Think I'll go back to induction again. At the mo I'm 77.4 kg and I've first been this weight at the end of september and just jojoed down and up again since then ;-( so induction might be good. Think I'll try to increase fat intake and see what happens cause my goal of 70 by Christmas seems to be further and further away from me now ;-(
Welcome to the challenge Scarlet!! Let's get loosing ;-)

i bought my Christmas party dress at the weekend ;-) It fits quite nicely and looks good (at least that;s what the bf said) but would look nicer if i was a bit lighter. The plan for the moment is to loose (hopefully) as much as i can - if the dress is falling off me in 2 weeks time (which i doubt), I'll bring it back to the shop and get it a size smaller which would be sooooo cool!!

I was delighted to be down 2 pounds this week. As you all know I've been living it up the past few weekends and have been struggling to repair the damage during the week. I think the loss this week was due to a few days at the gym and easing off the booze at the weekend. Hopefully it'll work again this week as I've seen a really nice skirt that would be perfect for Christmas, but I need to loose another few pounds before it'll fit properly!!!

Hey all,
I was actually 76.6 last week, not 77.6. Today i was 75.6 which is 1 kg loss which I am really really really happy about!! The weight finally seems to be budging a bit, hope the trend continues!!
I've also been measuring myself for the last 4 weeks every thursday, but no real loss in inches at all. I know some people say that you might not loose in pounds, but you are loosing in inches, not for me it seems ;-(

You all sound like you're doing really well. I was up one pound this week but that was definately due to dinners out with friends and indulging in Ben & Jerry's - I always feel bad afterwards when I stand on the scales!!! What do you all drink when you go out? Especially around the christmas I know I'll by boozing more than usual. I try to stay on either vodka & diet 7up or the bottles of Bulmers light - anyone have any Atkins friendly ideas?
Gagalina, don't expect any sudden results in measuring it takes a while. I've been measuring since June and I'm down 3inches in my hips. It only goes down about 1/8 inch a week, if that! but I find I see it more in my clothes every day. I haven't gotten around to buying smaller stuff as I plan on going back on induction after the hols. Keep up the good work!!!

As far as drinks go, I love to mix stuff with sugar free ice tea. It is good with Gin or vodka. Also use diet coke or 7-up.

Hey everybody,
I'm down to 74.9 today so I lost just a little bit over a pound and couldnt be happier, finally below 75 kg, about 1 pound to go and my bmi will be in the healty range ;-)
Thanks Dolles for the info on measuring, I forgot this morning, but will do tomorrow and keep on doing it also.
As far as drinks go, I think I'll stick with loads of water and Vodka and Diet Coke, that's what I used to drink before anyway (but with regular coke)
I was actually down to 74.9 on saturday also, so as a little present to myself, I got my hair done (for a whopping 120 euro, where do these people get the prices from????)
how are ye all doing??
Is anybody going to take a day or two off LC at Christmas?? I think I will, but not sure yet. My sister is coming over from France and she'll be cooking (she's very good) and there are soo many yummy cookies about....
If I do, I think it might be hard to stop at only 4 cookies and not the entire box....

Congrats Gagalina. Hopefully we will all make that 24.9 mark some day soon.
Was up a pound last night. Was a little disappointed but since im not putting any effort into my weekends i shouldn't have been surprised. Boozing every Friday & sat night have even started drinking pints of beer again, have also discovered a new love Gin & Tonic.
Anyone know the carb count for a Pub size btl of Tonic??
Just checked my BMI 29.8. Just in the overweight category now. Out of the Obese one which i suppose is something.
Good luck this week
