Hey, y'all. I haven't been around much of late. Work has gotten quite crazy and we finally moved into the house so we're trying to dig our way out of our boxes.
I did want to stop by today to share with everyone the fact that I've finally made it into Onederland!! (199.0)
I've not been counting my carbs of late, I've just been eating the right foods with lots of veggies and good meat. I'll have a piece of bread every once in a while and mabye a couple of the chips at a Mexican restaurant (real chorrizo and eggs, mmmm!) or a spoonful or two of rice at the Indian place we've discovered. Basically, I've not been counting, but I've just been aware. It's helped that now that we're moved in, I finally have a nice, gas grill and every night I can go out, fire her up, and slap on a steak, pork chop, burger, bratwurst or do zuccini and summer squash and it tastes wonderfully, and no broiler pan to clean up. I have also discovered a great cook book, "Roasting-A Simple Art" -- by Barbara Kafka, Maria Robledo. Highly recommended! I've already adapted some of the recipes to the grill (indirect heat) and others are just waiting for the weather to cool down.
The weight change has been gradual and I've followed it more out of curiosity than anything else. For a while I've been hovering around 202, then 200 with several mornings of late making it to 200.0. Yesterday I was at 201.4, today, 199.0! It's a minor milestone, but a psychologically important one.
It's a great feeling, especially knowing that this is my way of life, not a diet. I feel great, I'm looking better and I may very well be down to a 36 waist pants. (started at a tight 42, now my 38's are loose)
The worst part of the whole thing is that I have to take all of my nice pants in to be altered. (and that's the worst thing!) Whenever I wear one of my old polo shirts or pairs of pants I call them my flying squirrel clothes. I can pull them out to the side like wings and glide from tree to tree. :)
I just wanted to say, I never would have been able to learn and be inspired to stick with it like I have without all of you. You're great and this forum is a wonderful resource for everyone. Thank you to the founders, the moderators and all of you regulars who keep coming back and giving of your time, knowledge and compassion. Thank you.
