My name is Loqui and I'm a + 100 pounder.
When I first started dieting (around April but not the LC way till Aug 2001) I weighed 325 lbs. wow. Talk about Big Mamma's House.
I looked awful. I felt awful. I lived awful.
Not today.
I still struggle but I'm working on reaching my goal...one day at a time. It can happen. It will happen. Given time, patience, faith, and support I get from these boards and most importantly, God.
At first, I had 195 pounds to lose! Gawd! That's a whole 'nother person and a half, I thought. Not today. Today I am just one person too big ; ) I weigh 257 and now have only 127 pounds to go. Big difference from 195, eh?
In a few days my Tae Bo videos will arrive. That is my start date for exercising. Goal: Exercise 6 days a week -at least three times a week of aerobics, three times a week of toning/weights.
"Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made."
Genesis 2:3
Amen.

Hi! I started in April this year too! So far, I've lost 49 lbs and have 111 to go. I was really gung ho at first but the last few weeks I have slacked off and I need to get back on the program. Have to find some exercise to do myself. Guess I'll have to check Tae Bo out. Congratulations on your loss so far. You're doing great!

Loquita ...
Good going! It's so good to hear success stories like yours. I started the Atikins diet a couple of months ago and am down now to 256. I started at 280, but I was over 290 earlier in the year.
I had reached a plateau after the first month on Atkins. It lasted over 3 weeks ... but now I'm seeing the pounds come off again.
I'm excersising too ... that really helps me feel good about everything.
Keep up the good work.

I found that when I had slowed down and wasn't loosing anything that I saw my doctor and he checked my thyroid and found that I needed adjusted on my thyroid medication. You might want to contact your doctor to see if he could check your thyroid to see if that is a problem. I know that I am down 19 pounds now and am starting to see inches come off. It is always worth a try. Sometimes if your thyroid is off your metabloism can work at a snails pace and just craw along and not give you that extra bost that you need. I would check with your doctor and see if that is your problem also. Good luck

Loqui ..
I got some great coaching about breaking my goal into 2 or 3 goals so I can get wins much faster.. I too have about 100 pounds to loose and I am starting by having a goal of 235 and then 190ish... seems more in reach for me....
AND... I also am using a great exercise video... it is called Walking Weight Off... it is 1 mile in 18 minutes of walking and arm stretches... pretty good work out.. but not overwhelming for us bigger girls.. :p Once you get this video down.. they have a 3 mile and a 5 miles.
good luck.. and stay posted to the board...
did you start you journal?

Loqui,
I know how you feel! I started at 320 about two and a half years ago, and lost about 85 lbs, up until October, 2001, when I fell off the wagon big time - lots of stress, change in job, and lots of sweet stuff brought into that job by others.
I gained back up to 260, which is where I am now, and I start my induction on Atkins Monday. I'll be praising God with you! :)

Dear Loquita and all,
It may be a long way to go...but it comes off one day at a time. I know it's hard at the beginning, but keep plugging away. The more time goes on and the weight starts falling off, the easier it gets to continue working this way of life.
Sh'ra....it's Monday and I know you said you are starting induction today. Just wanted to let you know I am rooting for you. I will hold you up in prayer, it's always nice to know someone cares and is thinking of you. The Lord knows our struggles and cares about all our needs. Check in again and let us know how you are doing. Victoria

Victoria,
Thanks for the prayers and the support. I've already begun a journal in the "S" section of this board, just to keep myself on track. So far, I'm doing okay, and only missing chocolate occasionally (like RIGHT NOW, because someone in my office brought in a HUGE container of fudge! ***sob***), but I'll be okay :)
I'm a little depressed because I weighed at 260 yesterday morning (wanted to make sure where I was starting), but stepped on a friend's scale this morning, and it said 270! Arrgh! It was a real downer, as I don't know if her scale or mine is right (hers is digital, mine is not).
But, as long as I lose weight on either scale, that works for me. At least it's something.
Thanks again!

Sh'ra,
That can be depressing!!! But I wouldn't even listen to that other scale...you know since it's not your own. You won't be using your friend's on a daily basis, so don't even listen to that mean ole scale. It's probably just being persnickety!!! I don't know how honest my scale is with me, but it keeps going down so I'm happy with it. I don't even want to subject myself to listening to another scale...that would be disturbing if it didn't say the same as mine. Maybe when I'm smaller it won't be as important. But now I need consistancy and encouragement. Keep going!!!! Don't get discouraged. :rheart: Victoria

Thanks, Victoria. You decided me - I'm sticking with my old, lovely, nice scale and my friend's scale can just go...well, away. It even looks evil if you ask me :D

I agree with Victoria. Stick to your own scale. A few weeks ago I was weighed at the Dr.'s office and it was 12 lbs more than mine! Seeing my face, the nurse asked if I wanted to take off my shoes. Right!, like that would help anything. I guess it would have if I was wearing cement shoes, but I wasn't. I'm sticking with my own scale which has gone down since I started LCing just 9 days ago, and that's all that matters to me at this point.
Office treats are very tempting. At my office they celebrate everything with morning bagels, rolls, coffee cakes, etc. I just don't even look at it (or try not to) and walk around the long way to get to the water cooler for a refill of free spring water. Keep strong.
