Hi folks
If someone knows how to post links, feel free... :)
Friday's Toronto Star (thestar.com, health section) has an article about Body Mass Index and that it is a dangerous weapon that is created from an eating-disordered society. It's an interesting read! So Bruce Willis, Tom Cruise and Ah-Nold are all obese!
I think it makes a very good point that we need to get physical, and not just lose the weight.

The BMI as originally set up was a good tool. It allowed people of different heights to be compared in scientific studies. Where it went wrong is in being used to define levels of fatness in individuals. BMI is useful in comparing groups of people, but not as useful in talking about an individual.

and still thought I was overweight, SIMPLY because of the BMI, I'd have WAY more trouble than thinking I was overweight.
Given that Arnold has nothing to worry about from me, the BMI is useful.

Or at least starting out, I'm considered obese with my 5'2" height.
But even *I* know I'm not obese...eventhough I feel like I'm more overweight than I really am. I say toss the BMI! Use something more useful like body fat % (yeah...I know it's hard to get an accurate calculation).
