Just wanted to say hi to all the other Vancouver Islanders. I'm from Crofton. I don't get on line too often, but like to read the posts.

I'm not from the Island, but there are several Islanders out there. Probably enough to have a low-carb get together! ;)

Hi Diane:
I just moved to Saanich from Whitehorse, to attend University at the ripe old age of 44. I have been looking for places to buy low carb items and havent been very successful.
I think that moving gets harder the older I get. I forgot that EVERYTHING would have to be reinvented. I used to live in North Vancouver many years ago so I am not a total bush bunny coming out of the woods, but it sure feels like it. Victoria is sure a beautiful city, even better if it would rain and turn green again.

Hi Holly. Welcome to Victoria. Wow, you have great stats!! How long have you been low-carbing??? I only started in August. Thing shave slowed down a bit but I'm still at it.
Low carb products-what are you looking for?? Have you checked Capers Market on quadra/Mackenzie?? Also Lifestyles Market on Douglas Street. I haven't searched around too much. I think most of them carry Atkins Bars. Haven't found anyplace that carries Atkins products.
Good luck with school!!

Greetings, fellow Islanders (and Victorians)...
Glenda, Holly and Diane, the Lifestyles Market was carrying the Dr. A Bake Mix ($15 or so) and 2 flavours of the Dr. A syrup ($8-9 for the smaller bottle, 375ml?), Raspberry & Pancake, and an huge variety of bars if you look (though watch for the "hidden carbs", eh?). There's a few other sources listed in the Low Carb Shopping database (see the menu bar ABOVE).
I'm here, too! Have a look at the low-carb co-op forum off the main page, for some history, or just click on my logo below and go straight to my webpage (free local pickup or delivery)...
It sure is nice to have a few more folks from around here pop up! You will probably find a few lonely posts of mine down there in the archived forum subjects, too :daze:
Hope things go well for you, and hope to chat or maybe have a lunch someday soon?
PS: I lived in Whitehorse for 4 years, way back in the Paleolithic Age (ok ok, back in the late 70s). Is the Kopper King still up and running?!?

But have to admit that I came from the big bald Alberta prairie to live on the Island back in 1994.
Definitely feel like Victoria is my home. Keep telling DH not to get another job back there or he will have to commute back and forth 'cause I ain't leavin'!!!!!
Funny, but sometimes while I am out and about I look at faces of people and wonder if any of them are members of this forum or if they have ever checked out this site incognito :daze:

Where in Alberta are you from Homegirl? I'm from Leduc myself. Moved out here in 1995. I agree, I ain't leaving either. Fortunately my DH agrees with me.

I'm from Edmonchuk, Alberta ;)
Actually, I am originally from England but lived in the Edmonton Area (Spruce Grove, Sherwood Park and Edmonton since I was 13 years old).
DH was born and raised in Edmonton.

My DH was born in Edmonchuk (though raised in Scarborough/Toronto) but thumbed his way out here in his 18th year and never left! Something about this place, eh?
I've got a sister and her family in Edmonton as well... she went 'backwards': we were pretty well raised here, came out from Manitoba when I was 9, but she (strange woman :daze:) when back with her DH in her 20s... something about a first-rate University... sheesh. Some people are SO demanding.
